You shouldnt even care what avatars on a hip hop forum have to say. If you think Carter II is classic yhen that should be it. I don't thinK Late Registration is classic but I'm not about to argue with people to make them believe otherwise

Carter I >>>>>>>>>> Carter II btw

agree wit this one hunnid percent, even tho i will debate from time to time..

but ion think carter 3 was a classic at all, took a while for me to even like it, it might have had a chance to be a classic if the original came out, but the empire fucked wayne over n/h.

Its makes no mind to me either why but since this his a hip hop forum for discussing hip hop they was just something I'm curious about...I ain't never said grodt was a classic nor am I say carter 3 is a classic I'm just tryna get how hype is a main reason one can be considered a classic while another with the same hype can't be..... especially when it's not like carter 3 is just some trash ass album or didn't have bangers in its own right

these reason niggas will give all kinda contradictions to determine whether or not something is a "TRUE CLASSIC" whether u like the album or not

for example they'll say the album has to have an impact, but when someone brings up an album that fits under that criteria that they dont like (soulja boy debut), all of a sudden thats not a criteria anymore, thats why i so often say that "true classic" talk on here is shit grits, its all wat u personally think

I think you're mistaking hype for impact....and GRODT was the most impactful thing in hip hop in the 2000's

hate it or love it... 50 put his life on wax and succeeded in creating an experience that is visceral and still resonates...

Many Men >>> anything Wayne ever dropped...

Carter 3 is a below average album

Get Rich Or Die Tryin is a classic album you can play to this day top to bottom. It had great lyrics, great hooks and great production

Lil Wayne doesn't have a classic album

Oh shit.....I just realized you're talking about Carter III and not Carter II

nigga get all the way fuck outta here with that bullshit!!!

In the club - 9 weeks at number 1

a Milli - peaked at number 6

I wouldn't base it just on sales though,to me 'in da club' was the bigger track (one of the rare times ive seen a dj spin a track in a non hip hop club 3 times in one night) but it seemed like everybody and their mothers were jumping onto the 'a milli' beat to drop bars.

I'd argue it was the track that really blew him up within hip hop.

It wasn't the Hype alone Every Song on GRODT was dope..even the couple songs that were considered filler were dope and it went diamond..Sold 5 times what Carter 3 sold...Carter 3 was A solid album..but it's not a classic..The Original Version of Carter 3 that got leaked was better..If he had protected those tracks better and released that 1 instead it would've been a classic..And it's debatable that Carter 3 wasn't even the best album that came out that year..

You can replace Carter 3 with any album you want.... Ppl looking at the album when that wasn't the point.... The point was the criteria and the album was just an example.... How is it one album can have one criteria to being a classic while another album which might fit those same criteria not be.... If niggas look past seeing Carter 3 maybe that point would be a lil clearer

Carter 2 is A classic...And If he would've protected The Original Carter 3 tracks better and released them it would've been an undebatable classic imo

Niggas on that anti shit again. Come to a discussion board but feels they're above discussing shit with niggas on the board. You type of niggas make me sick.

As for the subject. Musically the carter was fuckin horrible. Especially that knock off just blaze mr carter shit. So damn weak. Best song in the album was a bonus track. It was Wayne is his popular apex not lyrical. I think he found middle ground with two with the carter 2. Which is why I consider I this best joint.

Get rich or die trying was a lot of hype. But most if not all of it lived up to hype or even superceded. Listen to Illmatic. That shit sounds dated if that's your argument. But it's still a classic. It represents time period. Just like grodt. It sounds dated because it sounds like dr dre, em, banks, etc, in 2003.

Carter 3 aint no classic ... But it's Wayne's best work ...his most versatile work ...some of his best spittin ..best song concepts for shure ....most creative ..... And he backed it up on this album ...all the hype from killing the features and mix tapes he showed that he could deliver a great product

Co-sign.....now that makes sense....but as this being what it is I should have been smarter and already known how ppl where gonna jump to conclusions and read it as me saying "GRODT aint a great album" or "Carter 3 is better then GRODT" or "Lil Wayne does have a classic" and get their gifs and no-signs ready instead of reading as me just asking what makes one classic and not the other when they both had big hype, did big numbers, and for better or worse had an impact on the game and represented that time period...
