A woman can't raise a man because she can't teach a young boy confidence like a man can. This is why its very important to choose wisely who you produce children with because the ultimate victim of the parents choices is the children, and if a young man doesn't see a stable man living life the right way, he'll be easily influenced by lesser "representations" of masculinity......

Semantics..........

well.. From what I've seen a man can raise a great woman but a woman can't raise a man because Men aren't raised, they're made. You can take a male with stand up parents and he can still turn out to be a piece of shit or you can take a male that never had nothing in life, mom strung out and it's up to him to decide he wants better and tries to achieve it. That's when the male becomes a man. Also, you can have a girl who daddy didn't show her enough attention and she ends up out there. Or, you can take a girl and have daddy teach her some self worth and she'd be straight. It's not a diss or nothing it's just mothers tend to be the nurturing type and a man doesn't need to be nurtured he needs to learn the value of hard work and the sooner the better and a female needs to be loved and adored and be shown attention by the opposite sex so that she gets the real attention she deserves before she gets the fake attention from the first thing with a penis and gets rolled.

A man cannot raise a women. Case in point, Aunt flow! But I get what you saying and appreciate the input.

I totally agree with you! I just had this discussion last night with my younger brother, there are just certain things a woman can not teach a man and thats just simple as that. We have no f8cking idea how to be a man so we can not raise a young man. Yes we can nurture him and teach him how to treat a young lady but to actually raise a man he needs a father. And this is exactly whats wrong with our community to many women thinking they can raise a young man. smh

FYI I hope everyone goes on Showtime and watches the documentary "Diary of a Tired Black Man"

This is why semantics is important.

Generally speaking, this thread may be valid.

But there are exceptions to every rule, and this one is no different. Frankly, I'm offended.

I mean it wasn't anything major but the points they brought up were so true especially about black women raising young men, just like sdrawkcabseh said "if a young man doesn't see a stable man living life the right way, he'll be easily influenced by lesser "representations" of masculinity". Its the truth! How can I as a woman teach my son to be man that doesn't even make sense. Thats like a rabbit teaching a lion how to roar.

I agree with this. TS is pretty set on this not ever happening ever in life like it's impossible when in reality it probably happens more often than any of us realize. Plus I'm a believer in the old saying, " it takes a whole village to raise a child." Now what happens when your village is beat to shit? What hope does one have then? Where would we all be if we all only knew what our parents taught us? No learning on your own, no teachers, no leaders?

I actually own "diary of a tired black man". The film does a great job of exploring what good black man experience not only in relationships but also in society. Fathers are important because historically they're meant to set the standard, and lead the family............

Basically.

If you ask my mother right now about raising two boys by herself, she'll tell you EMPHATICALLY, "I don't know how I did it." But she did it...and many other single mothers have done it, too.

This thread (and some of the comments in here) is not only offensive, but it's incredibly condescending...

It's not the gender of the parent...it's how good they are at their job.

It really did, its rare to see movies like that were men aren't bashing women but actually expressing how they really feel about women and how women treat their men. It was one point were this African guy said American women don't submit to our men. It is soooo true we don't it goes back to the Willie Lynch letter where they killed the strong black male in front of the pregnant mother and son to cripple the son and teach the mother to not to let her son be strong....as u can see over time its generated a mindset that women don't need men and that will never be true. We are the rib without men there would be no us.We're not built to lead we are built to support and its just that simple.
