In my opinion, this Era is missing geographic identity. One of the things that made the "Golden Era" so great was the quality music coming from all over the country, and each location had a sound distinct to it. Unfortunately, technology has changed that and influence has integrated the regions and it the dynamic has changed.
 
If you're talking hip hop in general its always been balanced it didnt just start getting like that. every year since as far back as I can remember theres always been something for everyone. Its just easier to get to now. The "need more balance" complaint is about the mainstream
