He’s never been an LL Cool J-type of performer. Instead of rapping about chasing tail and being a modern day pimp, Lawrence Krishna Parker was off elaborating on the sounds of a beast. I wonder if KRS just puts females into some kind of weird trance by over-elaborating on the specifics of what makes a real hip-hop MC?

His self titled album is one of my all time favorites. Free Mumia is one of my favorite songs. I like KRS, old school KRS though. My screename says it all.

What's his book called and what's the premise of it? When did it come out? Think I'll cop it

It was called The Gospel of Hiphop.

The premise is impossible to pinpoint because it's just a collection of notes KRS had been keeping for a decade. It's page after page of insane rambling about how we are "beings of light" and God must have blessed Hip Hop's existence because (and I quote directly) "spooky shit happens all the time yo!"

Basically, KRS would appreciate your charitable donations so he can establish himself as the first priest of a Hip Hop religion.

KRS wouldn't only be the first priest of Hiphop religion , he would also be the first Eddie Long .

metaphysics, power of the mind type stuff. krs has always been about knowledge and his thinking has grown to a different level.

I'm a philosophy major so I can tell you that when KRS namedrops metaphysics, he's full of shit. I don't think he actually knows what it is.

So vague as to be meaningless.

dam u been waiting for this one huh? so how is he full of shit? i dont have any technical words but to me his concept of power of the mind is using positive mental energy to make your ideas become realities.

Being philosophical imo means being able to look at two sides of an argument equally. Also to be able to step back from what we assume we know and analyze it from a different angle. Philosophers as I remember from college are the questioners of society, they question established views to either validate those views or come up with new ones. From that point of view he has done that throughout his career. When NY didn't curse, he made gangsta music to open dialogue. When it became a fad, he questioned its validity. When it was cool to diss women, he made uplift chick songs. He was pro black but didn't blame all white people for racism. Philosophers usually aren't popular because they challenge people to think and the majority of people are not that swift. So it took talent and skill to make people listen and enjoy him for as long as they did (1986-around 97). BTW dissing Kool Herc on a supposed hip-hop forum is raw comedy, he should have stayed in Jamaica so ya'll can listen to and perform 2K10 soul music smh.....

word. But man some people actually get off on going into an appreciation thread to tear down the the honoree. I understand it's a message board and people got opinions but I don't understand why some spend more time trying to shit in threads they don't agree with instead of just starting their own new one. They should just start one called "The KRS hate thread" and then post with other like minded people who all hate him? That makes more sense.
