it kind of instill confidence in your team.. when you know you have someone that can do anything at any given time..

Anything but throw to the sidelines, have touch on the ball and/or go over the top.

Ironically, Desean Jackson's playstyle.

I didn't say Kolb was better than Vick, but that's why the Eagles cut Mcnabb.

What's hard to understand? Kolb is not better than Mcnabb, but the Eagles cut Mcnabb because they felt he wasn't gonna win them a Superbowl so they went in a new direction. Not sure why u broke up the quote like that.

They traded McNabb and they did that because of 2 reasons, 1 they felt Kolb was ready and 2 they didn't wanna pay him.

who was it that said, "Philly people boo the sun when it comes up."

LOL. We only boo if we felt like it should have done a better job rising and could have shined brighter if it put some effort in. We don't boo for the sake of booing. We do it to let someone know what we think about their performance. If we think a player is earning his paycheck, he gets more love than any other city could ever give him, but that love is never unconditional....

But really, I think it's justified. These guys on the team make millions upon millions and the bottom line is that if it wasn't for the fans, there'd be no money in football. So we got the right to let them know how we feel about what they're doing out there. All these dudes in other cities keep showin love to their athletes when they let the team down are like women who can't stand up for themselves in an abusive relationship.

Ya my bad. Traded, not cut. I agree with those 2 reasons, but I also think the organization got frustrated when the Cowboys (their division rival basically) beat the shit out of them to end the regular season, and in the playoffs. In those games Mcnabb didn't play well, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Kolb better grow some thick skin in a hurry. The boos aren't what he has to worry about; his ass better hope he doesn't get the infamous "Santa Claus" treatment and get some batteries tossed @ his head by the fans.

J.D Drew. We threw batteries @ J.D Drew.

I agree. McNabb has been a potential Super Bowl winner for much of his career, but at this point I'd say it's probably never going to happen.

But even though the Superbowl is indeed the end-all be-all of the NFL, I don't see how it's better for the Eagles to ditch McNabb, who hasn't won a SB but at least leads us to division titles and beyond. That is, I don't see how it's smart when we do that in order to promote Kolb, who doesn't even inspire confidence for a winning season.

I know, I know, they're looking to see Kolb develop into the quarterback we need. But the guy is 26 right now. He was drafted from college to the Eagles in the first round like 4 years ago. I'm not saying he won't improve at all, but looking at how he's currently playing, how can anyone deny dude is a bust? He is a bust. So despite the fact that they drafted him with a plan in mind to have him leading the offense by now, he isn't ready (and possibly never will be). The reasonable thing to do would have been to keep Donovan around and give Kolb another year or two to get his shit together, then re-evaluate. But instead, they jumped the gun and got rid of McNabb after last season, when it was pretty easy to make a viable case for doing so, and put Kolb in the driver's seat despite his disappointing lack of progress. They did it, not because it made the most sense, but because it was the plan they decided on years ago. Now Vick has given them a chance to cut their losses and keep the team respectable while they figure out how to proceed in the long term, but once again, the plan is the plan, and there shall be no deviation.

This is what Andy Reid does. He sticks to the plan, no matter what. And in fairness, his plan has always been good. In fact, very good. But never good enough. Reid isn't alone though. Much of the NFL is too careful and rigid. They stick to the safe and standard plan, rather than take a risk with the chance of a reward. It's the same mentality that says when you're down 28-0 in the third quarter and you got 4th and 2 on your own 45 yard line, just punt it away. Hey, we might get shut out and blown out this way, but at least we aren't giving the other team good field position!

ok so if their reasoning for getting rid of mcnabb was because he couldn't win them a superbowl......

then starting Kolb at quarterback means......

That they're gonna let him go out there, get game experience, and see if he can lead them to a superbowl.
