Im in the minority but i find it laughable how highly rated MBDTF is

Its a GOOD album. Nothin wrong with being just that.

But again, in a dearth of classic albums, it gets forced.

I completely agree. It's great but not classic at all. Primarily because ye putting songs that we heard for several months from the Good Friday series on there hurt it's potential as well. It should have been more new songs that the world didn't hear on mbdtf.

link

The fantano YouTube review was the best breakdown of the akbum i have seen so far. He gave it a 10. But yall wont check it because hes white...

But would rather read an article about how white people can or cannot handle the album

SMH

Has nothing to do with him being white. Most of us here fuck with Bronsolino's music tough. I'm one of the few people here that likes Mac Miller. Statik Selektah is a fuckin great DJ. El-P and Evidence make great shit. Harry Fraud is one of my favorite new producers and Alchemist may be my favorite rap producer of all time.

So what are you saying bro? Out of everything I just said, I bet most posters will agree with majority of it, sans the Mac Miller endorsement.

Fantano is a hipster vulture, and that's what we don't like. It just so happens that he's white too, and that doesn't help his case here.

Hol up..............

Statik Selektah is white?

and so is.........

Alchemist

lol this pretty much what i went to the unpopular opinion thread to say, i just dont get the rating of this album, might be ye's third best imo

On 2nd listen, i can digest the parliament/thundercat influence in the first half. On 1st liaten i wasnt ready for that shyt

-This is a very good album. The 1 drawback imo is i still feel its choppy. A tad too much beat switching, song intros, spoken word, etc.

-The sequencing and overall continuity of the songs is there tho. Wish he woulda just let them all ride together

-It has the same up and down feel of GKMC. Imo GKMC is classic/near classic NOT bc its just non stop back to back to back goat songs, but bc the best songs are deep and stick to your ribs. (Don kill my vibe, real, sing about me)

-Usually its a 3rd listen when a song 'hits' me. I have a feeling a few will

-If i had to think of an album this is reminiscent of as far as consistency and quality, it reminds me of somewhere between Finding Forever/Be. If songs stick, it could be as good as Be. If not, its on a Finding Forever level and that was still a good album

Co-fucking-sign

the irony of @cain hating on this funk influenced shit... didn't u used to rock fishtank platforms and jackets with fur collars and leather elbows to see Bootsy and them?

I've sat with this album for the past couple of days...having each song on repeat, first feeling the groove of the beats and then intently digesting the lyrics by ear first and then seeking out rap genius next, I personally want to tell Kendrick Lamar, Thank You.

He took the complexity of being black in America and put into an album that makes everyone uncomfortable. He exposed our weakness of emotional/mental imbalances by shedding light on our frustrations of always having to live a life of survival. He repeatly stripped us of the victim badge and challenged us to take some blame. K Dot reminded us why others try so hard to emulate our culture, we effortlessly set trends and change the dynamics of fashion/music/art everyday. A black man...sat down with black influences to make a 16 track album filled with Blackness for black people intentionally.

So Kendrick thank you for a 79 minute reminder of why the melanin in my skin is beautiful....because the world reminds me every few seconds why its not.

Also, please stop comparing him with Cole...they both are great in their own rights.

Actually every time either artist drops they're comparisons....I believe if we going to compare them do it on a leveled playing field.

I said it before the album dropped I'd come back when its 2 albums to 3, kendrick and cole

Is it worth even asking right now?

Kendrick is givin u outside the box shyt, takin u back to days like when Nas would always manage to come with some new shyt like his voice on One Mic, or the idea for rewind...Kendrick got the pac interview, this dick aint free nh, you nggas boo boo, ron isley, the parliament/thundercat vibe, just all types shyt that is his own lil creative lane

J cole?

From the windooow, to the wall. Get offf my dick! Heeey, hooooe, heeey GTFOH! Andre Miller, he got a basic game.
