Kendrick Lamar - "To Pimp a Butterfly"

Like I said before, this album not going to be for everyone especially how Hip Hop is in right now. Niggas just aint into that type of production because its a been a min since something like this been made in a hip hop form. Kendrick making timeless music now where we can go back 10 years from now & still bump it. Chuck Inglish pretty much sums it up for me on his twitter that its sounds like memories of me growing up with family playing oldies & shit

Niggas really get in they feelings when you don't turn into Rosenberg every time you hear kdot rap... The album is good be to be honest it seems better then what it is only becuz it's different... Very good album but not album of the year and if I gotta play it for 6 months to feel its greatness then all I did was make myself like it more then what I really do

"I got a bone to pick. I dont want you monkey mouth muthafuckas sittin on my throne again"

Shot fired at everybody.

Creatively this album is a victory lap to "Control". Ye gotta push the album back. Hov gotta analyze his position. Krit, Rocky, Drake, Wale, Cole, none of the niggas he called out by name responded properly. Only niggas higher than Kendrick are Jay-Z and Kanye. They been getting past with that euro shit for plenty of years now. Time to wrap that shit up. Hov gotta call Just Blaze, Bleek, Free, Beans, and Dame. Ye gotta call Cons, GLC, & Mos Def.

CAnt say if that strue or not bc its too early, but tHe premise is right. Its gonna take a month or so and a few listens AND a set it down and pick it back up before you really judge this album. Right now the adrenaline is too high and there's no way this album could have been anything but 'omg omg omg!'

@StoneColdMikey is a good example. He a youngin so like this is his Blueprint, his 1st listen of Illmatic, etc. The young nggas NEED that moment lol Older cats know what it felt like to first listen to all time great albums as an adult/high teens. Young nggas really havent, so 'Tetsuo & Youth' or 'Cadillactica' will just have to be classic to them. They force it.

Meanwhile an older ngga like me is just confused. Like i just listened to The Fix. The goalposts arent supposed to change are they? So if an album had to be that good to be classic, shouldnt it have to be that good to be classic now? Not just beats, but lyrics.

Imo If we go 10 years without a classic alum, then thats just what happen. We dont make shyt that isnt classic, classic, just bc its the best we got.

Always hear these Dre type beats and think about what could've been for Detox.

How much a dollar cost got that lovely west coast vibe to it. That beat couldve made Detox.

Off topic I know.

Listening to this on day two get a better feel and appreciation for the album. Much better listening to this a whole than as opposed to just individual tracks.

He has a lot of themes going on in this album. One is that conflict of being famous and knowing it's still people where he from that's struggling.

I appreciate the artistry but I know people today need that quick hitter and Good Kidd provided that with most of the songs even though it was a story.

Oh shit! Thats a good breakdown of why these cats are so attached to hyping up Team Kenny! I didnt think of the shit like this. Thats the psychology behind why they keep pushing this 2Pac comparison which I dont see AT ALL.Most glaring difference Pac used less words and said more which is a mark of good poetry. His emotional rants seemed genuine as opposed to...
