This new artist Gold from Connecticut dropped a response for Lamar. Really nice, it's much more directed than Lupe's meandering bullshit, plus it's on a nice beat.

@artakartel Holy shit. Bars and that beat was tight. Salute.

I swear. I've never seen anyone as overrated as Lupe. I'm not saying he sucks. He's good. Even in his response, he said some very clever shit. That's as far as it goes though. His flow was kinda corny. The shots that he took a K sounded more like feelings caught than fire spit. The song as a whole sounded like some shit that he just wrote out of nowhere rather than a response to a verse where dudes are called to step their game up.

I don't know. I've just never seen what the big deal about him is. I can understand people liking him because he is pretty clever, but I've never understood this perception that he is some kinda elite rapper
. I look at him like I look at Canibus. They can rip the mic, but their music has 0 impact

Anyway, the funniest shit in this threat so far as been the Chief Keef letters. Those shits had me rolling.

Co-sign I thought I was the the only one, I use to think it was only internet heads who built him up until I found out he has a strong fan base outside of the IC. I got into a debate with a old co-worker who tried to tell me lupe is betterr then NAS?? Like you said hes good but I dont see the hype especially with that latest track he just dropped.

wouldn't say he's better then Nas or a bit overrated at times, but his complex flows, intricate lyrics, use of multi-layered metaphors and double/triple entendres, subject matter, story telling, etc can only be matched by a few...and imho puts him in the conversation to be one the top 10 to ever do it if he can deliver a classic album other than f&l

besides his talent, i think his fans gravitated to him because he was unique i.e. his subject matter, punch lines, etc he carved his own lane ...he spoke to a segment of hip hop fans who are considered "nerds" by their peers because they liked anime, played rpgs, etc...and consequently like kendrick, em, nas, jay, or drake he has his stans

anyways can't see how anyone who listens to these tracks can still be underwhelmed, or even unimpressed

This was well said I respect your post and because of it imma listen to each and every one of those tracks you posted. Keep in mind I didnt agree that his music doesnt have any impact that prt wasnt bolded,I remember hearing this one song where he was spittin from a kids perspective about his father not being around and it was dope so I couldnt agree with the "no impact"statement from monk, forgot the name of the song though?

But its constant use of metaphors throughout his entire songs like "dumb it down" is what looses my intrest oppose to just saying what he means flat out and I like dumb it down but I dont wanna hear that approach on every song. Example Nas's song "who killed it" good song but if spat like that on every record ill probably lose intrest and hes my favorite rapper/lyricist. Now im probably sure theres tracks where lupe is not as metaphorical I just need to hear more of his albums cause I bought his 2nd but because of productions and reasons I already stated I couldnt get into him. But imma check out the rest of his material from time to time cause hes far from wack just too complicated at times for me.

i dont know why im hearin and seein people gettin mad at kendric about what he said. I think the way he put it was brilliant. Metaphorical as far as the king of New York thing NOT LITERAL and when he called them names out and said paraphrasing" Im tryna make your fans not wanna fuck wit you no more" I thought that was a good lyrical exercise line in the spirit of competition. What is he suppose to believe, that hes not the best? All he did was voice some braggadosous lines (Like most rap niggas in freestyles do) and niggas got all butt hurt especially rappers who should know better. Props to K. Dot for killin shit like Kurupt did in 95 to the point the whole rap game is up n arms over this shit.
