That "we don't love ourselves" is a bullshit quote. You mean to tell me all we gotta do is "love ourselves" & racism & white supremacy will vanish into thin air? foh with that bullshit

Black on black crime been going down for years, so what happens when it sails down to the 80% mark. What excuse will they have to say then?

"Pull up your pants" and "stop saying the n-word" are my guesses

And another thing...

If Black people are as fucked up a race as you seem to claim..then why should we not "hate ourselves" . Why should we "respect ourselves?" Every post I've seen from you on this is basically a variation of how black people ain't shit. If Black people ain't shit as you seem to claim then we should hate ourselves by following your line of thinking. You talk about self-respect but I don't get any sense of respect or even love for Black people from your posts.

Your rationale is right inline with your run-of-the-mill white supremacist.

I love black people, i dont like niggas man.

I take the same angle on every issue.

Black people that know better need to stop cosigning or being indifferent towards nigga shit.

Its like they know something is fucked up, and instead of speaking on it within the confines of the community so that shit can be fixed, they wait for an outsider to speak on it then defend it by association.

That shit not alright with me brah and all the wacks nosigns and flags not going to change it.

Black people need to love and respect themselves enough to get rid of that sickness injected into them by white oppression and perpetuated by niggas DAILY.

That being said, none of this shit justifies what those cops are out there doing.

And i dont think kendrick was taking that angle either.

But a hit dog holler, that big mouth, domincan accent faking, purple weave wearing chick dont love herself.

I can see why niggas are interpreting this the way they are but I can't believe that Kendrick is on some Cosby "pull up your pants" shit with the way he portrays himself through his music.

It's easy to attack him when it doesn't seem he expounded too much on what he meant, but I took the comments more as a "we can love us better than they can love us," type of thing. We're steady seeking respect/validation from a people who may never give it to us. Respect for self equates to living for ourselves and creating our own instead of trying to navigate their system.

All in all I believe people are tying his comments to what happened to Michael Brown but I feel he was speaking in regards to the fallout from the Michael Brown incident.

Only if they are socially conscious and have some type of brain power behind their words, should they speak on social issues. Otherwise, their team should keep them quiet and just have them donate money. No Nellys.

Agreed. Maybe they can help by drawing more attention to these issues but a lot of them are not qualified to speak intelligently on these issues.

Rapper not saying 1 word>>>>>Rapper opening his mouth sayin some dumb shyt. Shyt i respect a ngga for knowin his lane.

Oh, and its very telling that nggas even think of rappers in times like this, like thats the peak of our culture.

Kendrick sounds as dumb as i'd expect. I hear nggas here shyt on college but then follow and expect shyt out of HS graduates like Kendrick and Lupe...bc they can rap. This is where lack of higher education exposes folk. Its in experience and exposure. He said himself he barely been out of Compton. Yea thats all cute when speakin for the hood, but its 2015...majority of black folk aint in the hood. Nggas not in the hood laugh at, cringe at, and just dont need no fukin hood prophet soeaking for 'us'. Thats yall mans tho...

That's exactly what he doing but people thinking he said in order for these tragedies to stop we need to do so and so. People reading comprehension skills are bad

As someone who has a degree this might be the dumbest shit I've ever read.

Hes a rapper. Now, if Michael Eric Dyson or Dick Gregory said some shit like this, THEN i'd be shocked & appalled. But yall go 'head & keep getting all worked up like he really was Moses leading our people to the promised land.

This isn't even a real issue.

nobody called Kendrick Moses ... there is no promise land ... stop the corny strawmans

for me its this problem of airing out black problems in white media, yes we do need to carry ourselves better etc but you speak on this amongst your own people, I don't know if successful black celebrities can't see this but white media bait you into saying negative things about your own people so they can use it to justify their racist rhetoric.

successful black celebrities better use some those millions to get better media training because shit like this is now become frustrating....these fucks here (TI, Charles Barkley,Pharrell, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z ,Nas, Floyd Mayweather,Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne) ....

Where do you want him voice opinion?????.......NAACP or Rainbow PUSH conventions.........We air out problems everyday on social (white)media (FB,Twitter)...your brother would rather record you than help you...WorldStarhiphop and youtube air us everyday...Media can put certain words you say for headline without giving the context... #DivideandConquer

AINT NOBODY TRYIN TO HEAR THAT BULLSHIT LAMONT!

How many Black kids go out of the way for those new Js to the point where they almost fight to the point of killing themselves? Or even worse you got kids buying (or boosting) Versace, Gucci, Tom Ford, etc... Before they even buy a fucking house?! Or where you have certain artists promoting gun clapping and how many niggas they put in the ground or how many keys they sold or lost for that matter?

You got certain artists that promote materialism and violence to the extreme (pretty much advertising guns, fashions, cars etc. from EUROPEAN designers) which has been going on in Hip Hop since the late 80s and forward) and rappers bragging about it so much, instilling a type of "self-hatred" in the listeners' psyche (making them feel like a lame if they don't follow the trends)..Maybe that's the angle KDot is coming from but the way he said it was maybe misconstrued..MAYBE. Until he explains in depth, then it's not looking good for him.

Maybe it's a reason why they wanted the pro-Black conscious music eradicated...

As someone else with a degree, back that statement up in a degree-like manner. Im all ears

Kendrick sounds like a ngga with no perspective and assumes we all out here strugglin. He's used to bein the smartest ngga in a room of round the way nggas, same as Lupe. Put a mic in front of him and have him speak to people outside of that bubble, and he's exposed. Yall expect him to be articulate (rap fans do bc they near-sided, Killer Mike is the smartest ngga they know) and he sounds like that article.

You would think that Azaelia Banks was out here dropping some black power music with the way she's acting. So are we really going to get behind Azaelia Banks? Really? So I guess people are finally listening to her even though she's been on this crazy twitter bullshit for a long time. As for Kendrick I don't care... Kendrick Lamar deserves to give his opinion just as much as Azaelia Banks. Kendrick wasn't on some Charles Barkley shit... niggas hating him while Charles is still out here on some double life shit. Charles Barkley is one of them dudes who be trying to talk all cool and hip around his boys but want to talk proper around white folks.
