Good ass thread... Yo is a difficult topic this one man on one end you got that part were u look at Jordan and the power he has to be able to move the masses and help the disenfranchised like it was mentioned... But on the other hand you got a businessman who can't help but continue to be a businessman and not reach down to those we see that need that help, while you have some that simply.

Jordan is a Carolina hustler. Money Mike ain't tripping on none of that. It's all about being wealthy. To each his own , black people too worried about so called leaders when they need to be focusing on themselves. Jordan couldn't change you as an individual even if he woke up as Malcolm tomorrow morning, we expect too much out of people who we think COULD be a positive example while ignoring the blatant negative examples we see on a daily.

Unfortunately this is true sometimes

All that's bullshit, Mike was put in a position where he was the most revered athlete in the world. Any man that doesn't stand up to affect change is a coward bitch ass nigga. How can you be cool with making millions of zdollars while the niggas that emulate you are being beaten, shot and mistreated on a daily basis?

Like I said to each his/her own. You absolutely right in the point you're making but is it Mike's fault totally? Are the people you say are being beaten, shot and mistreated responsible for their own actions at all? Where does personal responsibility kick in at? I understand children are impressionable but are you saying that black people need someone to show them the right way to be rich? I know that people like Ali, Jim Brown and Kareem have taken personal stances towards activism especially in regards to the black community but just because a brotha is the best at playing basketball and selling sneakers, that doesn't mean his views or personal leadership qualities is contusive to what is needed in relation to black people.

Mj is just an asshole but he's not responsible for sneaker violence. As for the nike sweat shops would you rather those chinks have no jobs???

I never understood why black people think that, Nigga+Money=Malcolm X

Nah man on the contrary I think people view individuals with a lot of money and fame as "people who can reach out to easily", and or "people who can move the masses" and or "people who should give back" but ultimately there is no obligation on well endowed individuals to "give back", yet there should be some kind of conscience from these individuals towards the needy although again like I said there is no obligation so those things work both ways, is a tough situation man

Everyone else has already said, so why not Alcindor the GOAT.

Kareem is the God of this NBA shit anyway. (I still haven't gotten an argument to prove that wrong, either.)

What I'm not getting is why someone making a lot of money make them qualified to do any of that. Especially "move the masses" fuck around and let a nigga lead you right of a cliff or worst right into the hands of those that mean you harm.

I just know if I'm in the business of selling something I'm not alienating no group from giving me their money

Exactly, if MJ established who he is way back in 1990, why take shots at him for it now.

Mike know how to play the game, not just basketball either. It could be a real reason why he always stayed politically ambiguous and never really tried to ruffle any feathers in the court of public perception. Maybe Mike wasn't as squeaky clean off the court like many people believe. The gambling debts, and the questions surrounding his father's murder have always been hush topics concerning Mike.

i love jordan the player but fuck jordan the man, the shoes and the company.

jordan is oj before the murders. and i think mj is a fucking with a white bitch now. i aint saying but im just saying

That man is entitled to his opinion, it's a basic human right. Jordan hasn't given any evidence to support a counter argument no way.

close enough. but if the bitch turn up with hr head missing just remember where you heard it first

I tell the same story anytime jordans allegiances are brought up.

I live 10 mins from the basketball hall of fame. When jordan had his induction it was a big thing obviously. A friend of mine plays alot of ball around the region and ended up at some ceremony that put him in the same room with alot of inductees, jordan included. He was dead serious when he said mike flat out told him "i dont take pictures with niggas" in the most condescending tone with the iciest of grills on his face. Smh. But its well known jordans been an unapologetic asshole since day 1.

Gotta admire his consistency. He sticks to his coony ass beliefs.
