(On-Topic) = one thing that really impresses me as of late is the production of No I.D and how he incorporates those subtle Soul elements in his music that give songs that extra layer of feeling when you vibe to it.

K.R.I.T didn't get a lot of hype for his recent drop from the fans because I think the average HipHop listeners ears have been conditioned to the more electro-euro ish or the Luger ish in this present phase of HipHop BUT I'm hoping all that changes with Nas new album which should be his most Soulful album to date judging by the production and guests.

I think Supreme was comparing one of our most Soulful new artists with one of the most Souless.

Their will be just as many co-signs as their will be no-signs in this thread so I doubt he made it for that purpose.

On-topic you would have to be insane to say that Rock is the most Soulful music besides Soul unless you never heard or R&B, Jazz, Neo-Soul, Afro-Beat, Jazz, Gospel and about 25 other musical genres that Soul people create from their Soul.

HipHop artists will always use Soul samples and Soul artists in their music because HipHop was built on James Brown samples The Godfather of Soul and it's just a perfect mix to blend the genres.

R&B with all its synthesizers and autotune has so much more soul than rock lol right. All the rest u said actually including R&B are just derivatives of soul.

Regardless, it takes minimal "soul" too get on a track and start spittin when your not playing any instrument, or most of the time are not even drawing from real experiences.

The fact that the only way they can achieve "soul" is by sampling is telling enough.

Rock music was blues/soul, they just split it up for marketing purposes. There is a reason 60% of the top 100 songs are from the 50/60's.

Dont get me wrong hip hop is great music, but there is a reason the artists in this genre get accused more than any other of selling out...
