Canibus is the only rapper who I believe would be found to be a genius if tested. Dude is fucking brilliant, goes beyond rap. He's the only rapper who I admit goes over my head sometimes, When Poet Lauriete 2 came out I was 12, I think, and I had to read the lyrics while i was listening cuz I just didn't get it the first few times

Canibus's fault is that he can rap about some of the most high-level stuff, but he can't find a way to make it personable at all. Sometimes it really feels like he's just stringing together lines to show "I'm so adept at rhyming these advanced concepts and you could never do it". So on a vocabulary/subject matter tip, he is a crazy lyricist, but in terms of completeness as a rapper....it's true that he is kinda lacking.

i highly disagree.. Illmatic is the Lyricist blue print of how dope you can be on one album!! that was the hungry NAS and his sidekick a hungry AZ do murder.

in the 2000's lyrics went out of the window with the rise of Crunk shake your ass music that has its place but lyrics went underground..

Any dudes like Jay Z studied ILLMATIC and learned from it!! you could use it as a college course on how to perfect ryhmes in rap!

I just cant get into canibus, he was kinda ok when he first came out but alot of his songs from the last 5 years are straight ass

he actually dropped a song with like 1000 bars like thats a good thing or something..do people really confuse quantity with quality

i like eminem but canibus is still 5 notches above him in wordplay and content and flow

plus eminem was definitely influenced by canibus but i guess its true about never meeting your idols

k-rino closer than eminem but also falls short

canibus is an existential rapper which may put so people off but he is line for line the best ive heard hes in his own league

listen to rakim then listen to canibus and you can see the student surpassing the teacher

but rakim seems to be unfocused since the 18th letter album

royce did out shine canibus but canibus verse on that song sounded like he didnt even hear the beat or the other verses and just sent royce some vocals i maybe wrong

canibus and dre is a hip hop wet dream the best lyricst and the best producer=unobtainium

it doesnt matter if a rapper is commercial or independent or underground in my opinion canibus has the crown
