If anything, that hour special was more lucrative for the NBA as a company and for the sport itself, not so much LeBron. LeBron just so happened to be who he is. Anybody that watches the NBA & understands even a fraction of the business side knows that possibility of Kobe being traded that season was very low. Kobe was only 3 years into the 7 year $136M he signed in the summer of 04. Kobe wanted to go to a contender but it wasnt happening b/c w/ his contract the team he was traded to would have had to come off some of their best pieces to complement Kobe and his no trade clause wouldnt allow the Lakers to send him anywhere w/o his approval. If I remember correctly the Bulls were 1 of the top teams in the race for Kobe. Kobe was adamant about his desire to play w/ Luol Deng in CHI but but b/c the salaries had to match and Deng was 1 of the Bulls highest paid p[layers he had to be included in the deal so Kobe wouldnt approve. Anybody w/ knowledge of the NBA knew Kobe wasnt going anywhere...even if the Lakers wanted to trade him.
