it wasn't that cut and dry. They didn't trade for Gasol until Bynum went down with his knee injury.

When the season started, the first game against the Phoenix Suns the crowd booed Kobe at first. But then they saw him still playing hard and bustin his ass (n/h) to win and they changed it up and cheered because they saw he was still commited to playing hard for this team.

Kobe bitched and moaned that whole offseason and Mitch Kupchak didn't even blink. He knew he wasn't gonna trade Kobe no matter how much shit he was talkin.

Later on that same season, The Lakers where sitting in 5th place in the western conference where the difference between first and 7th place was only five games. Bynum got hurt in January, which is when they made the trade for Gasol, not when Kobe was screaming "get help or trade me".
