i am for people having the right to own guns but i am against them being in certain places like colleges, airports, and daycare centers. these are places where fear can get out of hand. too many college shootings and school shootings. we all know how fear is in the airports. we have know way of knowing which owners are responsible and which owners will try to be a hero.

An argument can be made that there places are where it makes the MOST sense for people to be allowed carry concealed.

This is absolutely crazy.
why?

talking about people with a license to carry concealed. if someone wants to bring a gun on campus to commit a crime with it, are they going to be licensed to carry AND to say, "wait, it's not legal for me to carry concealed here with a permit?"

(obviously this is my pet issue but hey)

Because Im not broadly in favor of college students walking around with guns all the time. I believe that lots of people with guns on a campus is likely to result in more shootings by angry people than it saves by supposedly scaring shooters away or killing shooters quickly. Kind of like if you have an unlocked loaded gun in your home you are far more likely to get shot by a family member or yourself, or have another family member shot, then to protect your home from the attacking home invaders who we all know visit every week.

So the million dollar question for those who carry guns are you going to bust your gun when someone goes on a killing spree at one of these locations or just you going to call the cops instead?

Why the fuck do we need guns in daycares?
probably so someone who's carrying in the course of their day can walk into one without it being an immediate crime?

thing is, there's nothing actually preventing them from doing that right now if they don't give a shit. the average school shooter isn't someone licensed to carry concealed (i don't think there's been someone with a CC permit who's qualified as a "school shooter," but if anyone can name one, go nuts). and concealed carriers simply aren't randomly shooting people ANYWHERE the law allows people to carry like that.

further note: federal law requires you to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a licensed dealer; most states require you to be 21 to buy a handgun period, and this includes Ohio. and to carry concealed in Ohio, you have to be 21, have 8 hours of training, blah blah blah. so we're not talking about anything but a select slice of college students from the jump.

we can make fun of dudes who want to carry concealed because they dream of being a hero all day, for real, and typically i'm happy for those dudes to NOT carry. but the promised rivers of blood that are supposed to follow liberalized concealed carry laws never seem to happen.

so the big issue with this claim is that it's essentially based on a 1993 study that throws suicides into the mix. and i think we'd all agree there's a big difference between "committing suicide with a gun you own" and "you bought a gun and now you're constantly involved in murders." additional point: the study was in California, which really just tells us that California is a completely fucked-up state.

i don't know, i think the honest question you also have to ask is "are the people being killed living lifestyles that contribute heavily to their demise, aside from their owning a gun." but anecdotally, my guns haven't killed me yet.

Guns have never and will never protect people. Fact. If there is a shootout you could still die or shoot an innocent person in the crossfire. This isn't a movie people. Guns cause more harm with no good.

I don't know what type of society some of these people think we live in where civilians need to be walking around packing in child care facilities and institutions of higher learning.

Its a bad idea for a variety of reasons, if Bubba Ray wants to take his firearm out in the rural wilderness to hunt, take it to the shooting range, or ride with it locked in his car etc I have no problem with it.

You're going to run into issues green lighting regular civilians to carry these firearms in very public places though.

Innocent people already getting killed by so called tactical professionals (police), can you imagine how Bubba Ray will react in these situations.

the only people that would have a problem with this are people who don't believe regular civilians should have concealed weapon permits at all

it has already been said that CCWP folks aren't the ones out here causing issues.......it's the people who already are willing to break the law

one thread mofos criticizing cops for shooting black folks.....in another mofos are professing how anti-gun they are

well how are regular black folks supposed to defend themselves when these thugs run around acting a fool if u don't trust cops and u think civilians are too incompetent to protect themselves?

most of us do not have the privilege to live in a fairy tale village unfortunately :(

given only the verified defensive gun uses in this country, this is literally NOT a "fact."

just going to say "why shouldn't they?"

also this: "probably so someone who's carrying in the course of their day can walk into one without it being an immediate crime?"
