are u ranking them by how the music actually sounds or by sales of material they produced, cuz if its the former, i cant see how anyone in their right mind can rank jd up there with the neptunes

A combination of both. It goes back to my original statement, when it comes to rnb , JD and Timbo shits on most hiphop producers, but rap wise theyre slacking in classic material compared to the likes of Dre,kanye, and rza and vice versa.

Yea , i can agree with that. Timbo's my favorite producer, but I just think niggas are sleepin on JD. I still say JD >>> Neptunes

Can you really sit there with a straight face and compare Miss E so Addictive to the classic albums Kanye has produced?

For a FeMCee its classic is what I said. And frankly I think a lot of Kanye's work is something u have to have an aquired taste for. T-Mix was the first to use Voice Samples, not Rza or Ye

Yea Id say missy's early albums are better than funkdafied, eventhough i fuck with funkdafied heavy.

Not to mention kanye's solo's , but "BE" alone is shittin on most.

I had Funkdafied back in the day too. You're right, that shit did Go.

It wasn't perfect and it has filler but ill always have Play for some of those songs.

In regard to Jermaine Dupri's legacy, he is underrated. I wouldn't put him in the ranks of Timbaland or The Neptunes, but Jermaine Dupri (along with Organized Noize and Dallas Austin) is responsible for shaping the sound of Atlanta. Lil' Jon came up under Jermaine Dupri and his first credits came on those So So Def Bass compilations. Kanye's first credits were on Jermaine Dupri's Life In 1472. There's an interview somewhere of Kanye admitting to biting JD's drums. "Turn It Out" (the song Kanye produced on Life In 1472) sounds like a JD production.

There's also the fact that JD produced the first female rapper to ever go platinum. He produced Kriss Kross and Bow Wow, but also worked with Biggie, LL Cool J, MC Lyte, and Lil' Kim. He's also got classics with Jay Z.

In terms of R&B, he gave us Xscape and Jagged Edge. At one point, Alicia Keys and Anthony Hamilton were his artists. His work with Usher, TLC, Monica, and Mariah Carey is classic and possibly at the forefront of his catalog as his biggest achievements.

With all that being said, how can you say JD isnt in the same ranks as the neptunes lol

Even MY Way is nearly diamond, he didnt produce every song on TEOM , but he did about half and ALL the hit records lol

The Neptunes dominated music last decade. Pharrell right now is everywhere. They helped put VA on the map (along with Timbaland, Missy, and Teddy Riley). "Grindin" was one of the most coveted and duplicated beats ever. They've produced monster hits for Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Ludacris, and LL Cool J and a plethora of others. They have classics with Jay Z. There was a point in time where almost every hit song on the radio was produced by The Neptunes.

As an R&B producer, JD is >>>>>>, but The Neputnes reach in Pop is >>>>. They had Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani on Urban radio.

MoneLover seems to know what people in asia europe and auatralia be buying. Nor only that he seems to know evry muthafucka across the 50 states.

Im still baffled by how hes comparing confessions ans MCHG sales.

Somebody tell that nigga to eat a dick!!

Yeah the Neptunes are the kings of singles...But then JD's hits run alot deeper than Usher and Mariah/R&B..JD was all over the industry up until like maybe '06...And he's produced alot of platinum rap..whether you consider the material classic or not that's besides the point.....The shit he produced was hitting for the times..and alot of it was going platinum/gold everytime he touched it..regardless of genre..not saying he's better than the Neptunes or Timb as far as sound goes..but when it comes to work/achievements..it's not laughable to say he's in their company or greater there..
