J.Cole's "For Your Eyez Only" Rating Thread

after the success FHD had i just didn't want him to try too hard to top FHD. This album was a standalone concept album which was good. Yes the singles were a different pace than the album. But at the same time i would have been more pissed if Cole hyped the album up for 2 months then it was this. My expectations were low.

I like that the album is only 10 tracks. I would rather an album like this is 45 minutes versus having it drag out for 18 tracks. This album will get cold wintertime play but def will be reduced by me for the summer.

Im a husband, father of 2, fold my girls clothes, & very close in age to Cole.

I "got" what he was saying but it doesnt make the album better imo.

Im just not big on concept albums i guess.

The bold is where I'm at with it. I've already seen a couple post saying that if you can't relate to the album then it's gonna seem wack. I can relate to the topics, that don't mean it's great. It's a decent album. Not bad, not a classic, just decent.

OK album. I appreciated the story and concept, but there was no wow factor to it.

Concept is cool but the execution is awful...there's nothing behind the lyrics...like he didn't totally buy in

Production doesn't help the lack of emotion in the lyrics or voice at all

I think too many people get caught up in a creative concept and give things a pass when everything else within the album is lacking
