J cole is average and I dont give a fuck about him goin to college

Nothing special about him

I know plenty of black males who went to college and did positive stuff for the community

But I guess for black youth who live through rappers who rap about negative stuff, it's a good thing

For the black community overall, I would disagree

young black males need pimps and drug dealers to look up to

This is j coles advice about college t/s. sound like he's discouraging instead of encouraging

Well, I believe getting more Black men to go to college will help the Black community. As for the knowing plenty of Black men who went to college and did positive stuff for the community, that's great! We need more of them.

dmc talked about getting a education, and had more hype than j. cole, but one rapper ain't gonna make black people go to college.

"Check it out man, tryna tell y'all niggas man,

College is a good look,

A real good look, my nigga,

For more reasons than one, man,

Know they try to keep us out of that shit though,

That shit like extra expensive.

I got scholarships though, so you know I'm not sweating that.

I feel for my niggas that couldn't make it man,

Ay Mike we in there baby, hahaah

Ay they can't, they can't keep us out the G my nigga, you know.

Then we all make it, nah, we ain't all make it.

Shout out to my niggas, man,

All my niggas, yo.

Weather you graduated or not,

Weather you made it to college or not, nigga.

Fayettenam, yeah, yeah,

Class of 2007 man,

Holla at me,

I'm going to grad school though, you know? " (excerpt from "college boy")

I'm not saying that dude is perfect. We all got flaws. And any college student can tell you some discouraging and encouraging shit about college (I go to a place that's like the "Disney Land" of colleges, and I can still say some discouraging shit). In many ways, he had to say some discouraging shit to be more relatable because a lot of ppl, esp those who graduated in '08 and beyond, got some discouraging prospects. And some ppl can feel his pain on that. But if he can put out some encouraging shit (even if it's about fucking hoes) as well (and ppl just knowing his story in general) to get some people to get on the college bandwagon, I support that message.

j.cole is far more important to the black community than zz top however

and has a greater economic influence than guns n roses did while proffering more NAACP funding than AC/DC

There's something to be said about the message coming from someone around the same age... And of course one rapper isn't going to get 10,000 Black men to go to college, but hell, it just might encourage a few and even those few make a difference.
