Its a shame that todays music appeals to kids, but the growners dont feel it, i remember a time.

IMO hip hop is and has always been like fashion. If you think of the original hip hop, cats rhyming on the street corners n what not, it's like when the cavemen skinned a bear n threw that shit over his shoulder n called it clothing.

So then times progresses n we get a new fashion, n new sub genres of hip hop. Crunk music was the fashion everyone wanted to do crunk, like every nigga wearing a throwback jersey. We got niggaz wearing skinny jeans...niggaz all doing that trap rap. It's just what's current n what everyone is doing. The world doesn't have enough strong individuals these days that make differences on their own. We wait until a handful of people are doing something before we embrace it.

At some point hopefully it'll come full circle n niggaz will go back to the old skool. One dude will stick a bear skin over his shoulder put some timbs on n make everybody start being lyrical again...hopefully!

U know one argument i hate? It's that niggas actually say they prefer these wack rappers songs in the club to justify them liking the song. Listen, a club song can still be wack. Wtf wrong with some of yall?

Example of a dope club joint: "The Next Episode" by Dre. Lyrics and flow still dope and basically raps about the club enviroment and the beat is just banging. No melody, no social media slang, no "throw in every current trend and mix it into one song" shit or nothing. Plus no childish lyrics and flow.

What it is it that niggas just like to hear songs with heavy bass in the club. Doesnt even matter anymore if the club song actually is dope. Just add on hella bass and they good. I think that's a thing from the South.

The shit has changed. Now u got fans who act like A&Rs and execs, talking about radio spins and record sales. The industry has turned fans of music into fans of the music BUSINESS.

As far as the explicit songs, this aint nothing new. I remember Ice T's album cover was "racy" becuz it had a girl in a bikini on thecoverholdin a shotgun. You had songs like Cop Killer. Its always been there. People are more desensitized to it than before.

Hiphop isnt dead, its underground. I think people forget this is the ENTERTAINMENT business. What entertains pre-teens and teenagers is the shit thats Taboo. When u were 13 u wanted to watch Cinemax and Showtime because they showed nudity. All these parents have to do is have open dialogue with their kids and remove the Taboo of these things and show the reality of the glamorization of that lifestyle. If ur a gangster, u get shot, die or go to jail. If u Pop that Pussy, u can get aids, herpes or a baby before u exit high school. Give them the reality of the fantasy

Yeah, everybody know on this site people want the South to ease off so others can have a chance. But hey that aint how it goes. If you cant beat somebody you just cant beat em. But aint nothin stoppin nobody. Romney couldnt beat Obama straight up. And the republicans are like people on this site. Believe me its easy to see through. I aint mad at you cause at least your honest but everybody been knew what it was anyway. I understand music is to be enjoyed. Anything else is only hurting you. But again no hate from me, i aint gon force myself to make music a negative. Dont know why people just dont listen to underground or whatever they like. But do yo thing.

Shyt is really about people outgrowing the music.....you had a couple of generations that enjoyed the same type of hip hop from the late 80's to the early 2000's but now those generations are into r&b, neo-soul and listen to hip hop very seldomly....My oldest brother is 10 years older than me, but we liked the same rappers ... if you look @ jay-z in the late 90's he prolly had an audience that ranged from like teens to late 30's....There seems to be a divide now....nowadays and i can be wrong, but I doubt if the eary 30's crowd is listening to the exact same shyt as the early 20's crowd..... rap has to be the only genre of music that people grow out of

Hip Hop has replaced rock as the mainstream musical genre for the youth in America and possibly the world. Now just like Rock its in the process of becoming just a product. Making bitches dance and sing is and always will be the number one selling product ever in popular music.

If you would have asked a classic rock fan (Rolling Stones Beatles etc etc) what they thought about 80s hair metal kind of rocks, which consisted heavily of over the top romantic ballads aimed at women and "I wanna Rock and roll all night" party shit for young teens/people who want to get drunk and fuck.

They would have said that shit was garbage.

This is what happens with music when it hits the mainstream consciousness. Remember 60 and 70s rock had rebellious themes to them, By the 80s it was accepted as one of the biggest money making genres in the world. Same thing is happening in hip hop. Its not necessarily an evil thing enjoyable music can still come from that.

go to any college across the nation and play that song. Then you'll know what Juicy's fanbase is

see im not concerned about college students ... my concern is that we can also go to the elementary and middles schools and find out what Juicy's fanbase is also ......... thats my concern ..........

really though. If I had a 10-13 yr old daughter I wouldnt want her listening to what I hear being played on the airwaves.

lol yea u are... i kno people n dey 40's dat like 2 chainz... ross... lil wayne... jeezy ect...

Labels are just looking to make money, and they are going to mold their music towards the audience that has the most buying power. They aren't looking to lose money seeing as since the whole "downloading/burning" age began, sales have been on a decline.

Today's rap music appeals to and targets younger people more because younger people are buying it.

When you talking with your homies do yall talk about the same stuff all the time. That's what I mean. ANd on the radio they only play one type of music, nothing else and the same artists over and over.

a few things with this

most radio stations have a target audience... rather it be rap... country, rock, pop ect... i kno 4 a fact if u turn the radio 2 yo local pop station or rock station they do da same shyt u sayin da rap station doing... radio has been the 5th wheel in music 4 a long time now...

and yea honestly when u have a circle of friends u tend to talk about the same shyt ova n ova majority of the time... yall have simular things yall like n common...

There's a big difference in the rebellion that took place in earlier generations, and the rebellion that effects mine.

Back then, rebellion was against oppressive, small-minded authority. It stood for something, and wasn't just for the hell of it. The youth wanted their voices heard, because they had plenty to say. Everybody is human, so sure, drugs and sex were some of their interests, but in between all that, they had other things to discuss.

Now look at my generation. Their voices are heard loud and clear, but they don't really have much to say. They are literally rebels without a cause. Throwing caution to the wind, ignoring what their parents taught them, and listening to the radio for life lessons.

All that talk about intellectual or more complex music being boring is played. If music has the right vibe, people will get down to it, regardless of it's saying something smart or not. I've been to lounges where the dance floor was packed with people dancing to Outkast, Nas, Slick Rick. Those same people also got down to "Mercy" and Lil' Jon.. So like somebody said earlier, it's about variety.

I know this homie I know this. and as far as friends, or people I associate with, I have different ones so I can have something different to talk about. One homie likes sports, one homie likes cars, catch my drift
