It was easier to fake your past in the 90s rap scene than now

Even though pac did alot of real things whle he was a rapper, with his past he would of been seen as fake today. because of the internet, we would've knew pac was a twinkle toes dancer at 17, can you imagine if biggie prodigy his ass? never lived a street life until he got famous, was a dancer with jada pinkett.

Biggie never was a poor black kid like he described in the song Juicy. Everybody knows his mom spoiled him.

Ice Cube went to a all white gifted high school, and been robbed for his chain in many occasions but most of us didnt know this until the internet or beef dvd.

Dr dre we already know bout his glitter ass.

Onyx were techno house dancers who were far from gangster.

So kids don't act like they weren't any officer rickys, or anything like that back then. rappers been faking it until they made it since day 1

Ok my bad, for the first reply i made..but this defense for Ricky Ross or comparing him to anyone on the level of Pac kinda made me upset. Basically there has always been "studio gangstas" as the term was coined in the 90s, everyone had their suspicions on who was or wasnt a real gangsta. Especially when there was beef, people would try to expose the other. For example, MC Eiht and DJ Quik both from sets.... (Eiht-Tragniew Park Crip/Quik- Treetop Piru , I think) but both claimed that the other wasnt really bangin and got no respect in their own neighborhood... Many a rapper tried to discredit Cube back in the day... and people picked sides on if he was gangsta or not. Just cause Cube went to Taft and came from a working class family doesnt discredit him, cause i know many a nigga from workin class families who bang in the LA unified school district...even who went to Taft! Kam is Cube's cousin and is well known for bangin Watts crip and before they had beef (hes the one whos crew stole Cubes chain) Cube rolled deep with that whole set so I doubt that Cube doesnt know what hes talking about when it comes to being from South Central. But really its not about what he did or what he didnt do..Its about how he reacts when hes confronted on it... He handles it like a G...he is one of the most forthcoming niggas Ive ever seen in interviews. Ricky is not! Dr Dre...as you said we already knew what he was on but when confronted on it...did he lie like Ricky? Onyx...maybe techno dancers...but Sticky was definitely involved with the Deceptaconz (street crew in Queenz!) and locked up back then for shit he did (local accounts from cousin in queenz and if you were a hip hop fan you read about this in mags back then and you read about their history dancing)...but that doesnt matter....they came out on some Rap-Rock shit just to get the party hype...It may have been easier to hide the human side to your rap character back then....but all the people you named never really played the game like Ricky Ross....which is keep lying to people who support your shit just to keep your "rap character" alive.

this thread seems more like a plea to excuse Rick Ross more than anything else.

Wow, Youre right. This is problematic, I heard of going at a whole coast for a personal beef in hip hop, but never goin at a whole era in hip hop just to defend a personal favorite rapper. A bit much..

How old are you? Pac was real about his past in EVERY interview. He challenged people to look into his background to see if he wasnt being 100%...There has been endless footage of Pac released at almost every stage of his life. He hid nothing about his past from his audience. Everyone who was into his music back then (caveat: as much as me or any nigga from by block was) knew the whole story cause he gave it to you in almost every interview. His Baltimore story, NY story, Marin City story, etc... he woulda been considered a fake today? Why is he revered by all these rappers today? Cause he made it ok to be yourself!!! Niggas arent ironmen! Even the most hardened gangstas played pop warner football! Nigga he was real cause we knew everything you said about him as a diss! Fans knew that back then! That shit you say about Pac comparing him to Ricky Ross disgusts me. Pac was not known to be a liar and actually shot at cops! Ross is a liar...he lies all the time in his interviews...the time that Pac was trying to approach his listeners and inspire them in interviews...Ricky is promoting a false image of an untouchable don that never went through any hardship! Comparing Pac to Ricky makes me sad for hip hop fans....How can we even hold a decent debate over this when you are saying Pac woulda been seen as fake? When he made it ok to be Real! Niggas were scared to write songs to say they love they mamas before Pac... or to admit they cry! Pac did...he gave a fuck what you thought about his image... Thats why niggas try to imitate a guy who you think would be fake today...

Pac was not acting like himself according to the friends he grew up with. Jada Pinkett, Humpty, and many of his friends said he changed into some type of gangsta asshole which he never was before. when you look at Pac when he was 16 he look like some type of kid who went to school and never would harm a fly no intimidation in this nigga at all. years later different story.......th reason i bought up pac is because he is seen to most as the realest nigga in hiphop. However, he had stuff if we knew about we would look at him different. no one knew he was a ballet dancer. and lets be honest, even with Maino's, Gucci maynes, and Wocka Flocka's street report, if you found out these niggas took ballet as a kid and dryed humped a blow up doll in their underwear on stage you would say look at this fake nigga. Yall call Plies fake because he is a registered nurse which is hilarious but other people its ok to take ballet right? my point is we all got something that if we done would be seen as fake in our past which rappers always had from each generation its just that bloggers and the internet are exposing niggaz past

And im not saying pac was fake cuz he took ballet but why is Plies considered fake cuz he went to college? And niggas didnt care that much of a niggaz past like they do now. There was no internet for niggaz to have a voice only critics had a voice now no one cares bout critics because of bloggers. when i was a kid niggaz didnt worship rappers pac was the first rapper niggas worshiped after he died of course. no one worshipped rakim, krs one, and snoop dogg or even pac until he died. now niggaz need to get a life and to mittenz im sorry i hurt your feeling by talking about Pac. You remind me of my sister when i use to talk about B2K she had the biggest crush on them so I apologize

Maybe you would look at Pac different if you knew? Maybe you look at Plies different cause he is an RN....? I do not necessarily. Plies is catching flack about the Nurse thing cause he hasnt been too forthcoming about that shit. It seems liek you just now got into Pac or you werent really into Pac while he was alive, cause I swear that nigga when that nigga was on top he talked about EVERYTHING. I remember that shit...so no way you can convince me that niggas didnt know he went to Baltimore School for the Arts. Cause he said he did back then. The difference between Pac/Cube and other guys that people call out nowadays is that Pac/Cube were both forthcoming and werent scared to talk about real shit, whereas the "Gangstas" nowadays front something hard. Pac was a loudmouth, he told you when he got beat up and robbed. He shared EVERYTHING...just look at a recent article (circa 2003) about some of the shit he said OPENLY TO THE PUBLIC while he was alive. For example:

3 He was a playa early on.

“I was fucking white girls,” he recalled years later of his teen years at the Baltimore School for the Arts, a Fame-like performing arts high school. Once, he promised sex to a gay male student named Eskiah if he’d help Tupac land a hard-to-get girl named Kelly. Eskiah made it happen, but Tupac reneged: “After I bust my nut, Eskiah was like, ‘When’s my turn?…’ I told him, ‘You must be out of your fuckin’ mind.’”

Nigga...tell me if Pac Cares about you knowing he studied ballet if hes telling the public about some shit like that happening at that school! Everyone knew that shit. You must either be young, not have been into hip hop when you were young, or just didnt like Pac to be accusing him of being as fake as Ross or whoever you want to compare him too.

If niggas like Plies or Ross manned up to their own actions in their past and were as open as Pac maybe those that consider them fake wouldnt consider them fake. Plies hasnt lied about his past as far as I know so i have nothing against him right now, but he just hasnt been forthcoming so real gangstas are comin at his neck. Pac had real gangstas come at his neck too but he would fight back at that point and then you would hear about it in the papers or magazines the next day. If you were around back then then you remember

Oh yeah and how old are you dude? Not hating, but just trying to get some context on your comments. Because Shock G and Jada Pinkett have always vouched for Pac's "realness" when he was alive and when he died. Jada used to be all on television talking bout Pac like he was gods gift to women when he was alive (and she was in the keep ya head up video), and I think I remember that nigga playin her boyfriend Piccolo on A different World on one episode. Sounds like you been watchin posthumous documentaries about Pacs life and hearing people talk about how he was going through things right before he died.. Cause yeah all them people from his past said he changed, became unhappy, and always mad paranoid...he openly talked about that shit before he died... Being under constant threat of your life and having that affect your personality makes you fake now? Doubt Shock or Jada called bol fake...ever.

But yeah besides all that ...How old are you? Did you really get into hip hop before Pac died?

I never once mentioned racism

Paull Wall is probably a nice down to earth guy but the fact is he grew up an Upper Middle Class white dude that later on in life went on to make a living outta Hip-Hop which is about getting poor people out the Hood & Inner City from a poor backround so they can feed their kid's and motivate other poor people in the Hood

Paull Wall didn't need to be a Rapper he never grew up in the enviroment, class, culture, struggle etc

If you think Paul Wall is the only rapper that comes from a middle class background, you're completely delusional. And if hip hop can get people out of the hood, if that's what they want, great. But that's more of something that happens as a result of success in hip hop. Not an aspect of actually making hip hop music.

The point is not that Pac didn't talk about those things. The point is the hypocracy of the people. The same things you will clown these rappers for now, he did those very same things in his past. Yet Pac gets excused, while other rappers get called out for being fake. For the very same things. Prodigy from Mobb Deep got dissed because of what Jay Z did on the Summer Jam screen. He put up some pictures of dude as a kid, claiming he was a ballerina danceer.

Everybody started going in on P after that, calling him fake and soft. The funny thing is, I saw the picrures and it wasn't even anything remotely embarrassing. He was dressed as Michael Jackson (who didn't dress like him as a kid). And he looked about 8 years old. My point is, the example. Pac was a back up dancer, yet he didn't get clowned for that. P gets some pictures of him released as a kid, all of a sudden, dude is a pussy pink fake ballerina. My point is, don't put down and diss one for going to school or dancing, but pat the other on the back and excuse him like it's not the same thing. That's hypocritical.

Lets not forget the streets too Eminem unlike most Rap Artists who claim to be Gangster unlike them Eminem has caught cases with the law we all know about the pistol whipping incident when Eminem beat the living day lights out of a club bouncer and almost went to jail for it in 2000 but ended up on a 3 year probation

We also know about the case he caught for pulling out a Gun on Insane Clown Posse's manager

We know about how Eminem chased Insane Club Posse out of a night club and fired paint ball at their Van

We know Eminem had a criminal record from his teens before he ever became famous too

Eminem was beat up and bullied for almost his entire childhood

The problem with Pac is, people refuse to acknowledge those things of his past. While they clown other rappers for the very same things. Which isn't fair. Bottom line is, nobody on this board knows any of these rappers personally, to say what they've done in their lives or how real they are. Even the so called gangsters and thugs get caught slippin.

The difference between Pac and the rest is that Pac never hid his past. He told you about the poverty, constantly moving, going to the performing arts and taking everything including ballet, selling drugs for a week, etc. So again I ask how does he come up in this thread?

NAw son what your not getting is all that shit you think is hypocrisy is not you got shit completely backwards trying to defend these fantasy Kats, Pac was open honest and we all knew about his shit then as he was becoming famous he did not try and lie, distract or hide it he was proud of his roots the good and bad. Plies Ross and even prodigy lied and tried to hide shit that is the only hypocrisy because they talk shit about and disrespect what they were actually living and there fore get clowned for being Fakes fools and liars...

Its all in how you react to it...P is my nigga..So you not talking about me. But P was hard as nails...all we knew is that that nigga had a wild past as a youth in the streets Jay seized some pics to go against his superthug image and it worked! So what...has nothing to do with Pac. If biggie put a large pic of pac on SummerJam screen it probably wouldnt mean nothing cause he already had those pics out of him in magazines....NIGGAS KNEW! Do you guys not understand that argument...

Since niggas are acting like they dont get it...lets go to remedial class..for instance since niggas on this board have a fetish w/ Eminem....take the 8 mile example...when Em battle Pappa Doc at the end...he exposed him for being something he wasnt...you couldnt do that to Em in the movie cause he talked about all the fucked up shit from his past what else you gonna say...

Same applies to real life niggas...if you fakin the funk' you get called out..Pac didnt fake the funk...If you cant see that you dont get hip hop.

Gee you know how I feel about dude and the fact he is pulling a Elvis on us, there is no need to call him out when he is already easily exposed by any who open there eyes. Can he spit yeah but it is on some deviant shit most the time that I cannot relate to. He fakes his love and obsession with black culture and exploit himself and all those around him. That is why he has done so well as a HipHop Clown he lead the way for acting a Klown in the game and showed coons they too can turn a profit at the detriment of HipHop...
