This will not hit 70m opening weekend in what is historically one the slowest movie going months no matter how good word of mouth is. I could see north of 50 million. Which isn't bad for an R rated joint with niche appeal and a $35 million budget. But $70 mil? Nah!

New Line/Warner Bros.’ It came on tracking in a very strong way with predictions that are akin to a summer blockbuster. However, taking into context the fall marketplace and the time of year, analysts are simmering them to on the low end $50M, and on the high end $60M.

the teaser trailer was the most viewed trailer EVER in the first 24 hours after release

i think audiences are hungry for a well made hard R adaption of a straight up classic stephen king horror novel

paypal bet

give me 65 mil and up

and you got yourself a deal

I'm sure they meant this as a slight, but this is exactly what I want out of the movie.

The person who stole the show was the boy from stranger things

Definitely. That kid was cracking me the fuck up.

"I can't believe I got the shortest straw... you guys are lucky we weren't measuring dicks!"

Kid had quotables for days lmao.

Movie was good imo. There was a couple moments that legit creeped me out, like the photo slide scene. The opening scene with Georgie was really good too. That moment pennywise stops talking and just stares really creeped you out. Most of the cast did a really good job and they gave no fucks about showing the kids getting fucked up, most movies don't show violence to kids. I'm definitely excited to see part 2, but it sucks we won't see the kids anymore. Eddie, richie, ben and the Jewish kid, forgot his name all did really awesome. I had some gripes about bill and the rest of them but nothing major just not very convincing acting moments.

I died when they were all staring at barbara, then a few scenes later she's like "I need to show you something." Then Richie comes back with "you mean more than what we saw at the lake?!" That kids gonna be going places for sure.

Omaha Theater to host clowns only showing of It
http://www.omaha.com/go/omaha-theat...cle_a3e55188-cd66-5a6d-9c5d-3b31aa71c8c6.html

Alamo Drafthouse Omaha is preparing for a weekend around clowning.

The theater will host a clowns-only screening of “It” at 7:15 Friday night. Moviegoers must arrive dressed as a clown in order to attend this particular screening.

Clowns will be roaming the halls throughout the weekend, in fact. There will be a juggler, face painting and an opportunity to make your own paper boat. The lobby will be decked out in red balloons, with carnival music playing in the background. Enjoy!

Go to drafthouse.com/omaha for more info.

Well that's not terrifying at all

my girl and i went to this last night

but when we arrived we discovered our theater updated to some system where you have to pick your seats beforehand?!?!?!

and there were only seats in the front two rows remaining

no go for me

by how early we arrived id say they sold out so thats nice

movies like this are truly benefitting from a crowd experience

were trying again late tonight

i guess this was more of a personal story than about the movie but what the fuck ever

i get skeptical any time studios keep reviews under embargo until late but if this is a critical success it is going to do huge business

this will blow away the september opening weekend record ($48M)

and probably hits close to $70M

The strength of the Stephen King brand just proved itself as the R-rated It‘s Thursday showings delightfully horrified crowds, grabbing hold of $13.5M in previews that began at 7 PM. That means it nabbed the largest horror pre-show gross ever, the largest R-rated preview as well as the largest Sept. preview and the biggest ever for a movie based on a Stephen King book. It could run past $90M, and the box office that has been limping along is now, as expected supercharging September as it will, indeed, continue to break records.
