Hands down imo...

Could have been a classic Nas album...

Jay-Z should get props for his Unplugged joint, Jay backed by The Roots...

but there was nothing new or unreleased on that...

Lauren Hill too Unplugged is great...

While Nas is great. I think this is undisputed because of a lack of sample size. Lost tapes won't drop in quality because more people dropped em. I just think crowning lost tapes the best won't be so unanimous. Imagine if Jay just randomly dropped a tape with shit we never heard, it would shut the internet down.

How is Lost Tapes a side project?

An album filled with songs that were leaked back in 1998/early 1999 that ended up getting left off the I am album and songs that got left off Stillmatic. It isn't apart of Nas' main discography.

Distant Relatives is an example of a side project.

alright, an example. but what makes a side project a side project? Because everybody dropping regular ass albums in this thread.

It could be a collaboration between a bunch of emcees (Gravediggaz, The Firm) a live album (Unplugged) or a compilation album (Violator, Diplomatic Immunity)
