Is Hollywood racist ???

It's not so much that Hollywood's racist, it's that white people like to see other white people in their movies, I suppose you could argue that's racist if you want to.

You going to deep i think you are becoming what you are accusing them of in this sense.. she was a new break outstar.. Oscar winner i believe.. Just because shes overweight she shouldnt be there??.. i mean all those women should be their also.. well especiaally Smollet.. and Zaldana.. again thats the nature of the hollywood game.. call it what you will.

No...I'm not saying not having her on the cover....aight picture this, do you think they would have someone like Kristie Alley on the cover with the other fairly attractive white women??

Naw he not going to deep, he seeing what hollywood people doing. I'm sorry but Gabby should not be on that cover next to those 3 white women. That is a slap in the face to black women in America. But people will say "I'm happy she gettin her props, they put a big girl on there" Naw nigga they makin fun of black women on the sly and making themselves feel better. Why in the hell would they put her amongst 3 skinny, attractive white girls? They'd never put some obese white woman on the cover. Zoe Saldana been in more blockbusters then Gabby, she shoulda been on there. Tariq Nasheed was talking about this. It's a hidden diss but some people catch it.

My nigga, exactly!! King Flex was right about this!!

I'm really not sure what point you're trying to convey with this pic. If anything it would prove my point. Wouldn't you be more offended if they DIDN'T include Gabourey on the cover? The issue is the 25th anniversary of the mag and they were celebrating the hottest 25 people under the age of 25, and Gaby definitely fits the category (and by hot I don't mean looks). What's the problem there?

And sorry, women like Journee Smollett, Dania Ramirez, and Naturi Naughton are just not popular enough to be on the cover of this magazine. Not because they're Black, but because they're just not popular enough. The same as women like Anna Faris, Amber Heard, and Mena Suvari; all of whom are White and all of whom don't have an Elle cover. They just don't have a large enough fan base.

Bottom line is my opinion that people like to nitpick to find something that isn't always there. Everything is not racist, and besides that, it really doesn't get any more liberal than Hollywood. They fall over themselves trying to hand a Black person an Oscar out here. Did you see that movie Doubt where Viola Davis was nominated for about 15 minutes of screen time and she didn't even do anything? Same with Whoopi for Ghost. I loved her in the film, but her role wasn't Oscar worthy.

So Zoe Santana shouldn't be on this cover with the other 3 instead of Gabby!!

And again don't take what I'm saying as a diss, but clearly they are dissing black women!

And is Gabby hot?? when did Precious come out and what else has she done besides that to make her "hot"!!

It's in your face and believe me Zoe is "hot" she's been many films this year alone!

But is that the same issue as the one with Gabby?? Why could they put this picture along with Megan, Amanda, and Lauren??

Let's face it, if you're not white and in Hollywood then you have to fight five times harder than white people in the industry, that's common knowledge. As far as I'm concerned Zoe Saldana is an anomaly. Fair play to her for her success so far but there are other black actresses out there who could probably act her under the table but they're not getting a sniff at the success or same opportunities she managed to grab. Someone like Naomie Harris should be a certified Hollywood A-lister that every household should know about right now, Viola Davis can hold it with the best of them and she should be leading films, etc.

Dev Patel: bloke out of Slumdog Millionaire came out recently saying how even after the success of the film, all the Oscars it won and all the praise he got from all his peers (go search Anne Hathaway gushing away when she met him) he's still struggling to find roles that aren't the stereotypical terrorist and taxi driver roles. He was in that Last Airbender film this year and that was it. Next year he's doing a film with some proper acclaimed actors out the Hollywood system that will probably be up for Oscars in 2011/12. I think it's pretty pathetic its come to that, but then on another note if black film makers made better films that more people would genuinely want to watch then they might just gain more attention that way as well.

Lol @ the bolded. A 300 lb unattractive Black girl makes the cover of an international publication, and Black people see it as a diss...lmao. There's just no pleasing some people. Ok, I can see I'm going to have to end this back and forth with you. You just say the most meaningless things and don't address what I've pointed out to you several times already: For every Black actress you've named, there is a White one in the same boat. And yet you just keep listing of names of only semi-famous Black girls that the vast majority of Elle readers could care less about.

No Zoe shouldn't be on the cover instead of Gabby. Precious came out last year but the reason why Gabby should rightfully be on the cover is because she's got a fascinating story that people are interested in right now. Last year this time she was an absolute nobody. And now she's got an Academy Award nomination to her credit, which, interestingly the prettier, skinnier, lighter Zoe Saldana doesn't have.

Btw, Zoe will be in a total of 4 films this year; which has absolutely NOTHING to do with any of this, and you should know better.

Good day sir.

Smh, see I'm saying something but I don't think it's catching!

O.k.then Hollywood isn't racist...we can just be in any movie we want and be nominated for it!

Good day mam!

*hand claps* I'm not screaming racism or truely dissing someone, I'm just stating something that I'm starting to see!
And thank you dontdiedontkillanyone, I like your example!
Plus I watched Naomie Harris since The Tomorrow People and watched her grow as an actress, she has been in 28 Days Later and
the Pirates of the Caribbean!

And Dev Patel I didn't know about his story but I figured that they would want him in a role like a taxi driver or terrorist. And it's definitely
wrong, Dave Chappelle talked about how they tried to get him to wear a woman's dress on Blue Streak and how he turned that down! But Actors
like the Wayans bros or Jamie Fox or even Will Smith would do these uncomfortable and embarrassing roles and look where they are.

Even Denzel talked about his experience

You have to put together...there's a message being told here
