I'm gonna disagree on this one and say no. Hollywood is notoriously liberal. But they're also about the bottom line; money. They'll only go where the money is, and if viewers gravitate towards the "stereotypical" Black role, well that's what Hollywood is going to play up. It's business. I wouldn't call it racism.

If the feeding frenzy is on those negative aspects of blackness and money is there motivation what would you call it..... Also its hilarious how the same shit niggas criticizein black movies they go around and cheer and support in white movies.... or the fact that certain movies wont be made... hollywood has barely tested the waters with anyhting new.. Look at the current shows.. shit is very lilly white.. across the board.. You have your spots.. but there isnt one primarily black focused Drama on network tv..

A Ni**a Fukcin Large and a beastly Black girl, both of whom are poor and come from extremely dysfunctional homes. Right. No stereotype there.

I'd call it business like I said. If people didn't watch it, the studios would no longer produce it. If people wanted to see films about Black doctors and scientists, well then that's what they would produce. It's not racism to me, sorry.

Ok, all im saying is if you dont even give these shows a chance/proper forum and the same push.. as....... other primarily white counterparts then.. there you have it.

What??? First off, I'm talking about films but that's ok. I'll switch to television. There have been plenty of Black shows, some very successful some not. They do give Black shows airtime, but if it's struggling for viewers, guess what? They're pulling it. And don't think they don't do the exact same thing to White television shows because they do. They don't care if it's Chinese midget lesbians; whatever brings in the audience is what they're gonna go with. I don't blame them for more people not watching Black shows. It is what it is.

Do they or do they not exile.. certain shows to a channel.. such as BET , UPN or whatever its called.. TVone.. they make the distinction clear by seperating it.. from what people would call."Mainstream TV" just an example Kevin Hill ...... again im talking about forum and push.. i never seen a show with chinese midget lesbians..

Of course they do. Just like certain White shows get "exiled" to WE tv or TVLand or Lifetime or Oxygen. That's not a case of Black shows being singled out.

NO stereotype??

Blind Side, a dude who was poor who in a sense is rescued by a rich white family??

Precious, a girl who goes through all that negativity just to be saved by Mariah Carey's character??

I'm not dissing them, but do all black people go through that??? I'd say not!

You're talking about the plot. I'm talking about the characters.

I see where you're getting at, you saying that if we didn't internalize and watch these movies, these types of movies would stop!

We accept these movies instead of knocking on their door and telling them not to do these types of movies!

I'm not dissing her or anything, but if Hollywood doesn't have an agenda of disrespecting us then what's this

we-re-25.jpg

Again not dissing her, but you think they could've put Jurnee Smollett, or Gabrielle Union, Zoe Santana, Dania Ramirez, Naturi Naughton on the cover.
C'mon and be real, they may not just purposely do it but when you see this, what message do they send to black women!?!?

Naw he not going to deep, he seeing what hollywood people doing. I'm sorry but Gabby should not be on that cover next to those 3 white women. That is a slap in the face to black women in America. But people will say "I'm happy she gettin her props, they put a big girl on there" Naw nigga they makin fun of black women on the sly and making themselves feel better. Why in the hell would they put her amongst 3 skinny, attractive white girls? They'd never put some obese white woman on the cover. Zoe Saldana been in more blockbusters then Gabby, she shoulda been on there. Tariq Nasheed was talking about this. It's a hidden diss but some people catch it.

I'm really not sure what point you're trying to convey with this pic. If anything it would prove my point. Wouldn't you be more offended if they DIDN'T include Gabourey on the cover? The issue is the 25th anniversary of the mag and they were celebrating the hottest 25 people under the age of 25, and Gaby definitely fits the category (and by hot I don't mean looks). What's the problem there?

And sorry, women like Journee Smollett, Dania Ramirez, and Naturi Naughton are just not popular enough to be on the cover of this magazine. Not because they're Black, but because they're just not popular enough. The same as women like Anna Faris, Amber Heard, and Mena Suvari; all of whom are White and all of whom don't have an Elle cover. They just don't have a large enough fan base.

Bottom line is my opinion that people like to nitpick to find something that isn't always there. Everything is not racist, and besides that, it really doesn't get any more liberal than Hollywood. They fall over themselves trying to hand a Black person an Oscar out here. Did you see that movie Doubt where Viola Davis was nominated for about 15 minutes of screen time and she didn't even do anything? Same with Whoopi for Ghost. I loved her in the film, but her role wasn't Oscar worthy.

Seriously. black people are really way too sensitive about the racist stuff. I notice that black people always pull the race card more than any race people and every time people try to bring humor into our differences black people scream "Racism!".
