Just based on skill alone, Em is clearly one of the best to ever do it. There's no denying that.

Overrated? No. He deserves every accolade and bit of acclaim that he's received.

And plus, the fact that people are still bitter because he's white and is better than their favorite black rappers proves otherwise. In many arenas, he's underrated.

Rakim, Kool G Rap, Cane,Nas,Pac, Jay, Big, Scarface, LL, Cube, common, AZ,krs-1, Redman all are better. its seems that a lot of folk either. u can make an argument about DMX esp if u go album for album cuz his 1st 3 albums all were better IMO. Em is a great freestyler who can spit but his subject matter album depth lack to me. I can listen to a whole album of his. also what is the criteria for greatest in u guys opinion and which of teh criteria do u feel Em scores the highest in?

It was blanket statement to make as to why DMX is better u backed your opinion sayin that u know people who would listen to those albums over Em and I flipped it on you to show that argument can be said about anybody and any album. Im not talking out my ass I got those 3 DMX joints too.

i will have to agree to disagree with u. Em can spit but I dont have him up there as great as others do.

Eminem is a dope artist who in my opinion despite selling records fell short of his potential. If you listen to his underground album Infinate you hear a different type of Em, a cat with a slick wordplay, and crazy flow, if he would have stayed on that path and improved on his subject matter and vocabulary he could have been in discussion as greatest of all time, but every few songs on his albums he shows why he is good, but on those same albums we get trash ass songs like Puke, and that makes it hard to take him serious. He doesn't have that quentisential "classic" like the greats like Nas, Big, Pac, Jay has. He has had 3 near classics though.
