Who sits arond and actually says 'this was a bad year for hip hop'. How does that even come into your mind?!? I dont get it. Thats a conversation from a mainstream, sales, or historical sense. Thats something you look back on when you have a chance to sit and look at releases n so forth... but while its happening, at no time have i really said 'man, this was a bad year'

There's just too much music for that to be the case.

No one is that tunnel visioned to say a whole year is bad. B.c if a good project holds you down for a month, you mean to tell me there wasnt 10-12 mixtapes/albums in a whole year you fuked with?

For me alone Smoke DZA, Stalley, Currensy, Roddy, Jet Life x 5, Joe Budden, Game, Wiz, thats just off the top of the head. How could it be a bad ear for ME? ....but if you 'ranked' hip hop, none of those would be taken into account. B/c this question is loaded to look for the big wigs and sales.

If it weren't for this site I wouldn't even know the majority of the names you listed nor would I even known they dropped anything. That's a fucking problem. That needs to change. But I guess yall are okay going deep sea diving to find the latest music lol.

Shit is getting on my nerves, Commerical hip hop is NOT the only hip hop. plenty of dope shit came out this year. stop being fucking lazy ass hip hop fans and start looking. And there has also been threads on them and im willing to bet that most of you niggas that agree with jamar, wasnt in those threads either

We shouldn't have to look though. That's what differentiates the old days to now.

hmmm you're right and thats about the radio BUT if you conider yourself to be a fan of hip hop and you WANT dope music so damn badly that you're willing to complain for you, why not look for what you want tho? this is the internet age isnt it

Lord Jamar can go eat a bag of dicks... grumpy old man

Did you watch the video because he wasn't being grumpy. He didn't even say Yes or no. He was neutral..

No i dont watch any Jamar interviews

He just gets paid to sit on the couch and talk shit. I dont support that bullshit.

Put it in a song i might listen

but he wasn't talking shit tho. He was just asked a question and Vlad threw out a couple of albums and made it look badder than it is. Lord Jamar wasn't even sure if this was a bad year and said something like he would have to break it down year by year.

He's getting some unjustified hate and he's not even hating in this video. Some people see Lord Jamar's name and automatically hate that nigga because of other topics he's been talking about lately. It's funny to me

There's an influx of music

The radio couldn't play all the dope shit if they wanted to

Hip hop has never been in a better place, we got more access than ever imagined

Man fuck this thread

You along with a few others put me up on the latest stuff and I do trust your opinion on hip hop. But in general I just feel like there needs to be balance. Not everybody wants to go look for anything.

If someone is not willing to dig into the genre more for more hip hop music beyond what being fed to them can they really consider themselves a hip hop fan? I do agree with the radio balance thing tho but my main point is, For someone to say this is the worse hip hop year is crazy when there has been tons of stuff dropped

this year had been kinda wack mainly due to the lack of good artitsts dropping music vs good artists just dropping bullshit

Lol @‌ dig niggas act like Facebook/twitter/YouTube ain't a click away da fuck

ITunes, amazon etc you can see new artist just by pulling up hip hop genre. Half this stuff I pull up on accident.

I guess I understand where some of yall are coming from tho

No. I feel like Bodie and Poot on The Wire watching these older generation Hip Hop heads. Every year they talking about, "Oh, these kids are crazy! They're so out of control! Oh Lord the world's gonna end!"

Same shit different year. It was the end of times when Jeezy/Gucci touched down. Then Souljah Boy signaled the worst stuff ever. Then OJ da Jewmane. Wocka. On and on and on and on.

Every year is the worst year ever where 30 white rappers came and stole rap, kept black rappers from making albums and produced the worst content ever.....until the next year rolls around lol

Exactly. The fact that the good shit is being buried by all the garbage stands as a testament to how ass backwards the culture is right now.

No it means there's a lot more music being produced because people have the access and means to do it. Its still up to fans to sort through shit you like vs shit you don't like

I see this thread EVERY FUCKIN YEAR!!!. Some of yall need to get a preference and STICK TO IT!!!! I dont do radio, or MTV Jams and get all the music that I LIKE and don't pay attention to the rest......Ever since I did that i enjoy hip hop a whole lot better.
