Him and Dame are a really, really, really, really big reason that they had that run in the late 90's into the early 2000's

the combo of Roc-a-fella, Murder Inc., and Ruff Ryders brought Def Jam back for that time....and that was also one of the greatest eras in Hip Hop period....it was the perfect blend of Commercial Success and also staying true to the art IMO....i dont think Hip Hop can ever get back to that point.....but if Irv and Dame can get a spot a Def....we could at least try to get a little of that back.....

Ruff Ryders were never signed to Def Jam they were on Interscope.

Ruff Ryders was suppose to be Death Row from the get go, but Dee and Irv rejected the deal since it was bullshit and Suge was going away for 5. Then it was Def Jam. They were suppose to fuck with Interscope in 2008. Dont know what happend after that. DMX is suppose to be where Jay is now if only he was smart enough to have a piece of double R. He had his own label called Bloodline and Young Berg was signed to him at one point with Bizzare Royal. Shit folded tho....

Nah that's after the fact. It's not that X and Jay don't like each other, they're just natural rivals so it's going to instantly be standoffish. That's how Jay-Z is with people on a certain level talent-wise. Look at Cam, look at 50. Jay will do business with them to an extent, but he knows they're competition. X even said recently he doesn't hate Jay. Cam said the same thing now that I think about it lol

funny thing is i think Jay may look @ cam and the whole dipset as more direct competition the DMX .... dmx lyrically and fighting for that #1 rap billboard spot was prob where him and jay competed ..... but in my opinion Cam and Jayz are direct competion cause cam is trying to show jayz up in his own lane ... so its like cam trying to come for that #1 spot plus trying to knock jay out the lane that he created for himself .....

Yall are speaking alot of truth right here. I always had this theory that there are 2 Jay-z's. There is Bragger Jay and there is Humble,Introspective Jay. Its seems like after RD you got alot of Bragger Jay. (See imaginary Player). He had his moments where the introspective\humble side came out but the aggressive I'm the shit attitude was more prevalent. After Ether however it seemed the shy, humble, introspective Jay was shown alot more in the forefront. He may have masked it behind his whole "grown man" and "I'm rich " movement he had going on but after Ether he personality seemed to change. How do some of yall see it?

Maybe SDE Horse& Carriage Cam but the Cam that came to the Roc wasnt knocking Jay out of any lane. It was the disrespect of what they built that Dame did that upset Jay. You can tell Irv has a passion for the culture, he would have been on top of the game if Shady/Aftermath/G-unit didn't turn the public against him.

corporate structures are generally against unions period ... they even tried to form a union here @ my j-o-b and next thing you know there was rumors that the company would fire anyone passing the union info around ... cats had to get on they secret squirrel shit with it lol ..... all in all the corporation won since then i havent heard 1 peep about a union ....................................

but i also didnt hear of any info that would really benefit us being in a union ...

but from what i got as far as my job went ... the union pretty much puts the say so in the peoples hand ... u have a group of people protecting from losing your job especially thru the old fashion YOU GONE ... WHY?? ... JUST CAUSE .... lol ... etc .... any issues with the company can be spoken thru the union .... shit is way different from what Irv was speaking on ... the dues we would have been paying wasnt going to a retirement fund or anything like that and we def werent going to see any returns @ all down the road ..... but a few people did saying bringing in a union could have increased our hourly pay salaries etc ..........

One thing i loved about the old days was that rappers used to have a crew that all represented one look, one idea and whatnot. All the way from Dogg Pound, to Ruff Ryders, Wu-Tang and whatnot. Wu had the whole 5% thing goin' and everybody had that crazy, street nigga look with the fronts, crazy hair-styles, bandanas and shit, Dogg Pound represented dogs that dogged bitches, smoked weed to mark their territory (like dogs usually do by peeing) and etc. Like i just loved that whole shit not only from these guys but from a few others too.
