But real talk, Stop derailing this thread!

Bottom line, what Irv is talkin bout is the days are gone of rappers having Agression/Hood shyt AND lyrics.

Nowadays guys are 1 or the other:

Ross, Jeezy, etc represent the Hood...regardless of ur feelings on them, they are hood nggas...but they are NOT lyrically there

Drake, Cole, Wale, etc...they have lyrics...but they are not hood, and not agressive.

What Irv is talkin bout, and what he thought he saw in Meek Mill, is that combo of both.

90's/2000's...the best rappers had both: Jay, Big, Nas, DMX, State Porperty etc....Timbs, hoodies, and still could rap.

i agree 100%..... i see where Nas was coming from when he said Hip Hop is dead.....man they hate the spirit we bring to the music.....

they hate the energy we bring to the music....just like Irv said.......if we dont bring it back, we will hear Jay-Z on some Euro-Jay all the time

Hooovv!!!!!...shit was mad funny......how he put it when he broke down Jay and the super pop records.....i missed that about rap

that raw truthness......that raw vivid picture painting.....these dudes these days are so soft and so controlable u can see it play out in the music

Rap took off cuz niggas was doing this shit for us by us.......FUBU....now we doing it for them......he can't do music they want to hear......

we supposed to invent music they want to hear not dictate the music they want to hear.....cuz next thing we know......we will have a Meek Mill and Justin Bieber collab

Good interview.

I'm at the 20:00 mark, and so far Irv Gotti just validated what Professor Griff was saying about the distribution deal (between Suge, Irv, and J-Prince) being shut down, and what Canibus said in his interview in May of this year, about people at the "top" not wanting to see artists unite in this way.

Posted again for emphasis.

It's from MTV's rapfix which i think live streamed yesterday or something like that. Irv Gotti reveals ALOT about certain issues and whatnot.

Method Man also sits in and had a interview. There's more parts but this is the only one i found on Youtube. Irv went in.

BTW @ 5 min mark it seems like X checked Jay backstage at a show. He didn't say it but from what i get i think that's what he wanted to say.

it says video has been removed by the user

It ain't always that simple genius...look at Wayne's gun charge...he got convicted because a finger print of his was on a gun registered to someone else, I think his manager Cortez Bryant...but simply because Wayne wasn't the owner and they found his prints, he got hit with the charge even though his manager came out publicly and said "It was my gun. Wayne doesn't have to touch guns. That's why there's people around him licensed to carry"...and as for Ja's case if I'm not mistaken his wife said he got pulled over in his Maybach and he was by himself...so who the hell is going to eat a charge when you get locked up alone?

just because there are fingerprints from you on that weapon makes it a crime? you guys got some tough laws huh? i mean if he was walkin in the streets carrying that weapon, OK your fault... on the other hand if you driving around alone with a weapon who doesnt belong to you, then thats really dumb too...

Irv need to go ahead and get that Def Jam job....

Him and Dame are a really, really, really, really big reason that they had that run in the late 90's into the early 2000's

the combo of Roc-a-fella, Murder Inc., and Ruff Ryders brought Def Jam back for that time....and that was also one of the greatest eras in Hip Hop period....it was the perfect blend of Commercial Success and also staying true to the art IMO....i dont think Hip Hop can ever get back to that point.....but if Irv and Dame can get a spot a Def....we could at least try to get a little of that back.....
