PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Passengers on a Southwest Airlines flight headed to Philadelphia had a scare after the jet hit rough turbulence on Tuesday.
Action News spoke to airport officials and passengers on Southwest Airlines Flight 4817 from Nashville.
They told us people on the plane were bounced around a bit after the aircraft hit the turbulence.
"It was like a roller coaster ride," said Mark DaSilva of Dallas, Texas. "I was sleeping and all of a sudden a guy to my left yelled really loud," DaSilva said. "People came off their seats."
The pilot alerted the ground that they might be injuries on board.
However, while there were some minor injuries reported, no one was seriously hurt.
Passengers we spoke with say what made it so frightening was that it all occurred very suddenly - and without warning of impending turbulence.
"There was a sudden lurch where a lot of people were flung up and out of their seat temporarily. There were a few people out of their seats, a stewardess threw a bag of garbage accidentally," said Michael Conrad of Nashville, Tennessee.
"It looked quite disastrous from the back of the plane where we were but, overall, I don't think it was that bad, but it felt pretty legitimately scary during the turbulence," Conrad said.
This comes amid numerous flight delays at the airport due to the snow.

Even made it to abc news. The old folks hit me up after they happened to catch the news on tv: PLANE HITS ROUGH TURBULENCE ON WAY TO PHILADELPHIA INT'L AIRPORT/
While it was happening, this old white lady next to me, turned and looked at me with the craziest/scared look on her face. I tried so hard not to bust out laughing and looking all crazy.
I was supposed to be scared I guess, but I wasn't. I don't like flying, but if the plane was going down, then the plane was going down, and I damn sure wasn't going out baby crying and shit.
I must've missed the news reporters though, cuz I didn't see any of them when we got off the plane. I probably didn't get the worst of it though since I was sitting in the front/middle with my seatbelt on. I heard other people behind me getting tossed around though.

Planes go down here all the time, the big airlines, sans singapore airlines, dont even fly to a lot of places in indo. Emirates, KLM or Qatar airways will take you to Jakarta but than have a local corp fly you to your final destination lol
If you fly from amsterdam to jakarta youll bound to have 3 to 4 hours of turbulence straight
Ive prayed to all the gods a million times lol

Damn indo ocean flights fam...if you fly from jakarta to doha or dubai, youll through sri lanka n a lil bit of india but the rest is all ocean. Regarding all the turbulence and missing planes n helicopters in indo, my theory is its because of mother nature, all the damn vulcano activity n shit. There are several large active vulcanos within a 30 km radius from the city I reside in now.
