Bawse does have a point with Dre... them shits changed the soundscape of music... twice.

I'm gonna also roll with Outkast. Southernplayalistic = Illmatic, but ATLiens>>>>>>IWW to me.

Even though I no-signed Bawse's post..I had to think about it considering I saw your post and that Dr. Dre presents The Aftermath was just a compilation album....and yeah he's possibly right.

But with Outkast, I co-sign you because that would be the right answer..even though they're a group.

I assume @international..

We're talking about SOLO efforts right?

Is this one of those threads where people answer the question and you argue them down?

Ghostface Ironman and Supreme Clientele

Biggie was the first person to come to mind but seeing that he already got mentioned a couple of times, I might have to go with Lupe. Food and Liquor and The Cool were some of the best rap albums of the 2000's.

Edit: I write this as artists you can make an argument for. I still believe that Nas has the best two albums to start a career off.

Jay. RD was a little better overall and is more timeless than Illmatic. Vol. 1 and IWW were pretty close in my opinion. In fact, I'm gonna go listen to both of them shits back to back right now. But I'd give the edge to Vol. 1. it was very nearly a classic.

This could change upon a re-listen.

I Know What Girls Like immediately takes Vol 1 out of contention.

That's why I said very nearly a classic. Every other joint on that album is fire and it had way more standout tracks than IWW and holds up over time slightly better. I'm a big fan of both albums but Vol. 1 is better I think.

Well dayum...

The hard thing about this question is that Illmatic is possibly the greatest debut EVER, and to even contend you gotta be either Biggie, Rakim, or have some shit that changes the face of music, i.e. a Chronic or a 36 Chambers. IWW to me was great, but it came up short to Nas's standards. Almost every artist mentioned here had a strong debut, but stepped up big time in their 2nd album.

Speaking of Rakim (with Eric B), Paid In Full and Follow The Leader is up there too.

Ready To Die and Illmatic are debatable you can't go wrong with either one.

That one song fuck that albums flow up you would never see jay-z perform that song live.

Idk about "stronger", but these albums at the very least matches Nas first two albums..

Amerikkka's Most Wanted + Death Certificate - Ice Cube..

Ready to Die + Life After Death - Biggie..

Paid in Full + Follow the Leader - Eric B. & Rakim..

College Dropout + Late Registration - Kanye..

ATCQ???

their first THREE albums were damn near flawless

If you are comparing Low End Theory and Midnight Mauraders then I would say you have a point, but Peoples Instinctive Travels isn't fuckin with either one of the Nas albums.
