What I'm basically saying is Jay-Z, Kanye, Nas, Eminem killed off the old school.. thanks to them for starting and pioneering but we've eclipsed them dudes... We paid our dues by now over 30 years worth, just cuz most yall niggas stuck in the past dont mean its not true.... Learn to appreciate the now for once bitchassniggas... thats why hip hop is really fucked up

First of all I feel you on if niggas was so great how did they get booted outta hip hop and became legendary names....especially when you consider that Ra, Kane, Krs, ll (now he has pretty much been booted out), G rap are only a few older than jay and snoop.......You are right on with Jay and Em but to be real....Jay is gonna go down as the best to ever do it....it's good for the genre and history of hip hop......to put those older legends as the goat makes hip hop a genre for losers...those guys didn't accomplish nearly as much critically or commercially as a Jay or a Nas.....they aren't nicer on the mike than a jay or nas......take their best rhymes and match 'em with anybody else's best rhymes.....Em's constant prob is he has made alot of songs about stupid things like puke, medicin ball, evil deeds and so on.....meanwhile kanye needs to work more on his rhyming.......kanye would be eaten alive in all golden areas....jay and nas and em have proven that they rhyme bar for bar with anyone on any day.....wayne is nice lyrically...he'd prob be a top 10 emcee if he was spitting what he did from 05 to 09 in 85-89...or 95-99 but he is in the era of the artist and his albums are for the most part weak...... t.i is a little bit behind kanye partly because he isn't bringing anything new to hip hop....he is the sourthern jay....take jay out of brooklyn and relocate him to atl...bankhead.......whatever and you have t.i....nice flow but lyrically more big pimpin and less street is watching/ talking jay that is

I could quote almost all the post but I'm a dead yall one time while I'm on my 15 minute pussy break (sumn half yall squares know anything about... I get that!)...

I have no problems with paying homage and being grateful for those who came up with this thing called rap music and those who've pioneered from the beginning.. But like I said that don't make you any better of an artists... The artists back then couldnt have transcended hip hop music like a Jay-Z, Eminem , numerous names I can say blah blah blah... Jay-Z has changed the whole landscape of hip hop on and off the record.. I only name drop to say that these rappers deserve just due.. I'm not saying Lil Wayne nor T.I. or the greatest but you cant deny what they have brought to the game..

Sure Rakim or whoever the hell began spitting a certain way where the young Jay's Ye's Em's Nas' grew up on first but the guys I said took the shyt to a whole other level where most you fool dont want to recognize... I always wondered if Rakim or them other dudes was so great how did they basically get booted outta hip hop and just became legendary names... Like these niggas never made it where Jay or Ye made it while rappers in that realm made classic material along the way... Like what do our rappers have to prove to them old niggas who really werent much of nothing.. Sorry if it sounds like a diss but its the truth... Jay has surpassed all them fools but no1 wants to admit the shyt because personal hatred or biasness..

I dont want to run the Jay thing in the ground but he is the prime example... Longevity has always been key in hip hop but for some reason its like his bar is higher than the heaven skies just because he didnt make rap music, like Jay hasnt already over exceeded all expectations of all rappers.. Even Nas or Eminem, and I'm not the hugest of fans but our generation has killed off the beginning era of rap... I respect all parts and eras of hip hop and pay homage but I cant suck they cock like yall cuz they did it first... The newer generation ( mid to late 90's til now) is far more full of better rappers than the old skool...

(Back to good pussy... hate if you want IC, all yall do is make me laugh anyway .... I, I, I get it)

and let's be real.....while biggie is a much better mc bar for bar than pac.....he only released two albums......by 2020 that man will be pushed to a top 20 emcee....just not enough material to excuse otherwise.....pac on the other hand is and was just too influential....nobody on the west coast is close to what pac was.....snoop is commercially amazing but emcee wise even he is more of top 20 or 25 so on the real Pac's space in hip hop history is prob more secure than a Caz, KMD, or heck a KRS or Chuck D.....his life and his death brought so much attention

Are ya'll serious? That's like saying starting your own business is easier than working a 9-5. smh. Of course the newer artist are going to be "better" because they took from the pioneers and built on it. Most of the new artist are still biting some of the "boring/ ABC" lines that you clown the pioneers for.(Jay-Z for example ). I understand what you guys are trying to say but your logic is flawed. Progression is inevitable but its impossible to progress without a beginning.

Jay couldn't hang with them in their primes. He studied them and they had to fall off before he could shine. JayZ's style couldnt compete with greats in that era (86-94). When rap from being about creativity and turned commerical thats when the golden age rapper became obsolete. But KRS BDK Rakim Moe Dee all went gold in their prime which is like platinum in the 90's-2000s. They great because they evolved rap like 2 years for every year in my opinion. Every year between 86-94 was advancing rap by like 2 years with subjects flows and production. Since 96, shit has basically stayed the same. Because them old niggas and early 90 niggas had already invented most everything and niggas were just coasting and recycling ideas afterward.

to put those older legends as the goat makes hip hop a genre for losers...those guys didn't accomplish nearly as much critically or commercially as a Jay or a Nas.....they aren't nicer on the mike than a jay or nas......take their best rhymes and match 'em with anybody else's best rhymes....

and you can hear how great the best pioneers really was. making jay z the goat is like obama being president, that dude is doing well, but it dont really mean nothing for hip hop overall lol. just the commercial side. the rock analogy is real, no one would say having the rolling stones or the beatles as the greatest bands ever makes that genre take a loss. only thing newer niggas added was certain subject matter. the flows come from ra krs g rap kane slick rick niggas use to this day. niggas dip into that shit all the time. them niggas delivery so much a part of rappin that people forget i guess.

Whoever is responsible for this post has no knowledge of what real MCs and hip-hop is. On top of that the last ten years of par has produced NOT ONE great MC, with the exception of maybe Kanye and TI. Biggie, Big Pun and Rakim ALONE are shittin on everybody thats out now, EVERYBODY. And its no secret that 92-99 produced the best hip hop music ever. All this bullshit thats out now has already been done. Wayne is a glorified mixtape rapper with absolutely no substance and watered down bull shit bars like "im so high i could eat a star" Big L is shittin all over lil wayne.

Them dust balls made hip hop a hot sound, and the newer cats made it a hot genre.

I agree, they legends, but they aint (not including some of the artist t/s stated) shit on the artist who succeeded them.

I don't even think I've posted on here before but this has to be the worst god damn thread I've come across on the internet this year. Let's be honest most people don't even understand the quality of Pun's lyrics. You can't drop some PHD shit on Elementary ears and have those elementary students say you're the dopest.

My mental's compatible with the radicals

My oddessey type, qualities allow me to poli' with animals

Niggaz is canibals and the ghetto's a jungle

where you either peddle your bundles or struggle on the simple and humble

My niggaz'll rumble with any man for a penny fran

Try to imagine what they can fathom for twenty grand

Niggaz'll slice you and dice you into a thousand pieces

and pound out that shit into the ground Uptown

the Boogie Down, just follow the team, piling the cream

Surrounded in green like flowers in Spring

Now I'm a King, so it's more than money, all the honies

used to call me Punny cause my fam was always hungry

But now we rollin lovely, and you feel worse, want my money

Let your steel burst, cause I'd rather see you in hell first

I mean do you even know why he said odessesy type qualies and poli' with animals? I mean it kinda makes me sad that people don't realize that that Pun's Twins verse wasn't anywhere near his best shit. Rakim songs stand up to this day. Rakim dropped like 4 straight gold albums in row when rappers were bragging about selling 100 000 units. That's real talk. I guess some people don't know that there's a big difference in how the industry operates. These days your label will buy 500,000 copies of your records as marketing. Nas ain't better than Rakim. Kool G. Rap is still dope right now. Slick Rick is still dope right now. Kanye has is dope but he also has writers. Ain't nobody ever wrote a verse for Chuck on a Public Enemy album. Shit Pun wrote Joe's best stuff. Everyone knows that. This thread has to be a joke. I mean Kool G. Rap got Nas right here.

And he got Saigon right here

He put out Ready to Die, The Conspiracy Album, Wrote a good chunk of Hardcore, put out Life After Death which was a double LP, maybe the only double lp in hiphop history that shouldn't have been cut down to one album(cough cough all eyez on me cough) Not to mention many dope verses. Biggie's popularity ain't going anywhere. Pac was mostly famous for everything but his music which in all honesty was hella inconsistent.

23... and idgaf what u gotta say really... Im keepin it 1000

I'm 23 also and I get where your coming from but your just taking your point of view to the extreme....

I personally believe our MC's of todays hip hop are better than the MC's in the past doing it....

However, they legends built this shit and did it in a different way that sometimes I do feel is/was more dope, it has a certain feel to it, you could almost say "untainted" or "pure" LOL.

You just crazy for not giving credit where credit is due......

To understand who you are, you need to understand what you were.....

Pun >>>> you iTunes
