I'm tired of the old Legendary rappers gettin way more credit than they deserve...!

i just gotta say the homie Big Pun aint wack the nigga said
"Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know
That we riddled two middlemen who didn't do diddily"

but anyway i agree with the t/s in some ways. a lot of newer rappers don't get the recognition and respect they deserve. a lot of old heads put expectations on then that will be impossible to achieve. they don't even get a chance for one "fuck up" and if they do yall looking to hang em. perfect example J. Cole, everybody is hating on em for his singles and how is album is going to be trash (which it isn't) but yall expect his shit to change the whole face of hip hop and idk why. what did he do to garner that those types of expectations. everybody's debut isn't going to be an Illmatic , niggas gotta be able to crawl before they can walk, yall want my nigga Cole to fly immediately. he is going to get it right things take time to develop but yall act like yall don't want that. yall just want that shit to happen now and if it doesn't they are looked at as failures.
as far as the older rappers they deserve their respect bc they built the foundation for the newer rappers to come in. of course they aren't going to be the best bc they were the first to do it. rap wasn't as technical back then as it is now. I'm sure if you put Dwight against George Mikan he would fuck him up but you still have to respect him for what he did prior to what the game is now.

Its fucking ridiculous how much more love rappers like Rakim, Kool Mo Dee, KRs1, BDK, Big Pun (wack!), Biggie (overrated)!, RUN DMC (....wiggedy wack), even Sugar Hill Gang & niggas like that who really weren't even that nice get mad props for GOAT status... over Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, Kanye, even a T.I. or Wayne who have dominated this era of true competition and revolutionized Rap music as much if not more than any of them niggas... I don't want to hurt any of yall old heads but its truth almost all them niggas couldn't hang in today's rap or have even made as much quality music as a Jay or Kanye.. But its like hip hop fans never wanna give just due to our rappers which is just unfair...

Half them old niggas (or Dead niggas) are still tryna rap and aint been looked out for about 15 years... but people have the nerve to say Jay-Z or Em has to do more to pass them niggas when if you compare lyric wise and what not are killing off them old heads... I'm sure yall understand where I'm getting at... Its cool if you a legend and u were here first but that shyt don't mean players who have shown and proved consistently haven't passed up them niggas... The old and the dead are getting way too much credit now and it needs to end!

No one ever ranks Run DMC or Sugar Hill Gang as the GOATS. They get credit for being pioneers and paving the way.

As far as the other rappers that you mentioned, lol ok.

T.I. and Weezy shouldn't even be in the same sentence as Big Daddy Kane and Rakim.

Not all younger cats think like this what dude dont understand besides nas what do any of the rappers you listed talk about that makes an impact like all the rappers you listed especially KRS 1. Unless you go underground there isnt any music with a conscience like it was back then.

What this stupid young muthafuker (T/S) is forgetting is

that when his favorite rappers were young (just like his retarded ass) they were bobbing there heads to the same muthafuckers he's disrespecting.... You stupid kid.. Like somebody said earlier .......

FUCK YOUR LIFE

First off, TS is definitely wack , lol . Run DMC had the tightest routines, nobody traded rhymes back and forth tighter than them. How can Jay Z or Biggie be doper than Kane, when that's who they got their styles from ( Kane might slipped them a few rhymes, lol. ) What young rapper today is iller than Wise Intelligent. Wise got crazy styles and delivery, don't say Whiz or Wayne, lol. If there was no Ced Gee then you have no Kanye . Do your research. And as far as KRS, let him step on stage with his peers and these new rappers. What Pun say " I don't care too much for icons, but when you Disrespect Kris, you disrespect my squad." Sorry to say pac was not a battle emcee, he wouldn't win a battle against Ra , Kane or G Rap. This is a prime example when someone else writes your history, they fail to note the real movers. It's easy for the newer rapper to do what they do, they didn't have to lay any ground work.

To Who ever wrote the article blog whatever it is you need to learn a couple of things. FIRST is your history if you go back all the new gay skinny jeans bright gay color wearing rappers (because there not mcees) got there styles from !!! RAKIM (the GOD MCEE) if you didnt know your BOY WEEZY takes alot from him and you dont even know it. JAY-Z is nothinhg but part Nas part Biggie parts of Big DADDY Kane. i feel what your saying after listening to them then hearing what you here today would make you think that. thats like saying LEBRON is better than MICHAEL JORDAN (and any youngin person thinks that knows nothing about Basket ball)) NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU COME FROM BECAUSE ALOT OF YOU DONT KNOW!!!!! now like i said out of respect( idont know how old you are andaint know CYBER THUG) but im saying homie every body has a opinion but never forget the format the blue print never. there is no way in hell your going to tell me that the music today is better than back then? what are we basing this off of? SWAGG? (WHICH IS A CORNY ASS WORD AND NO SUCH THING ITS CALL BALLS, EGO, THAT AIR ABOUT YOU) RECORD SALES? (THEN MC HAMMER IS THE BEST RAPPER EVER THEN BECAUSE HE SOLD ABOUT THE MOST AMOUNT OF RECORDS) HELL NO!!!!!! ITS ABOUT THAT WRECK ON THE MIC. NOW WE ALL GOTTA eat and get paid but never sale your soul for riches and always have your heart in it or your FAKING like alot of them are doing. so again your intitled to your opinion but JUST GIVE IT A LISTEN AND YOU HONESTLY TELL ME, WHAT 5 RAPPERS OF TIODAY CAN OUT RHYME ANY OF THEM ?

The harsh realities of life is takin tolls

Even Jesus Christ forsake my soul

Please tell me what price to pay to make it home

Take control, I'm makin dough, but not enough to blow

J.O.'s, they lust my flows, but aiyyo, I don't trust a soul

That's all I know or need to, these evil streets'll meet you

halfway and eat you, I laugh tryin to survive illegal

I leave you lost, bounce you on the cross, rip you like a horse

Sacrife your life to a higher force

Then I stomp your corpse it's the Bronx of course recognize the accent?

One of the last livin still in action, general assassin

Catchin any wreck, blastin any tech

Smashin any chest, passin any test, Charles Manson in the flesh

Any last requests before you meet your maker?

Sew what you reap a wake up, shakin up a storm like Anita Baker

I'll take you straight to hell and fill your heart with hate

Incarcerate your fate in Satan's fiery lake, then I lock the gate

Make no mistake, "The Shit is Real" as Joe, we follow the killer's code

When we come for you, tell me where will you go?

Nowhere to run, hide, I'll find you and and silence your screams

And even if you kill me I'll still be in your fuckin dreams

AND YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO SAY BIG PUN IS WACK.......YOU BETTER CHECK YOURSELF

Many of yesterday's rappers deserve their just dues because of the fact that they did it when there wasn't a blueprint... Don't underestimate the power and advantage of mimickry. To a degree, does the credit sometimes go too far? Yes, but at the same time, it's good to have those standards to remember what a hot album is. There most definitely are some rappers today who do not get their just dues, like Wayne, TI, or Jay-Z... But I think time will smile back onto those gentlemen. Eminem? I'm on the fence because album4album, he's absolutely NOT one of the greatest of all-time while rhyme4rhyme, he's one of the top pound4pound. In conclusion, what makes this fraternity great is the fact that each generation has a set of challenges inherent to the time period in which they navigated the industry, and certain players have risen to the top both lyrically and business-wise... So while Kane and DMC's lyrics were the first major breaths of a cultural revolution, the current or post current groups' performance has cemented that legacy from a culturally significant standpoint as well as a professionally savvy standpoint. It is what it is, and I appreciate it all.

The Rappers you named are the only artists that I could tolerate nowadays and they are nice, but Jay came from that old school era (check Jaz back in 89) and Kane used to let him go on tour with him. So actually someone from that era is still relevant and on top of the game.

Secondly, I don't think you ever listened to Big Pun's CD to say that he's wack - I think your judging him by what you heard on the radio, And I would say the same for Biggie. Lyrically cats today could never catch up with, Kane, Big Pun, and G-Rap. Only Ememin. But EM, was inspired by that era. EM wouldn't even be an MC if it wasn't for that era, so I really don't understand your point.

The better question here is, What have these NEW age Rappers done that earlier generations of rappers haven't?

I say with 100% Confidence. ABSOLUTELY nothing!!! The jewlry, Style, Subject Matter, Flows, and even the whole endorsement corp thing. Have been done in many cases adnauseum. The only reason why this argument surfaces is, because, the Newer Fans of Rap are 30 years late and they can stand it. Because, it's no longer NEW. It's not like us 70's babies that grew up WITH Hip Hop when, it was NEW and there was nothing like it on the planet.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And I agree you have some good points, but without a comparison tool, how can you weigh how good the rappers you claim are "goats". Punch lines and clever hooks always keep your head bobbing, but substanance holds your interest and lingers in your mind longer.

These legendary rappers paved the way for the artists of today, with the majority making stupid hip pop records with no substance. This thread is beyond stupid

And what does it matter that they callin me grandpa? Cuz I fathered your style? —GZA
