damn i didnt think of that.. that was a good observation...

but the T/S logic is broken, i think he feels like if you werent alive in that time to experience it, then you cant have an opinion about it. i feel that way about old school R&B.. i hate when a 25 year old looks at me and tells me (a 21 year old) " you dont know shit about The isley brothers/james brown/ etc" im like bitch u young just like me.. u wasnt listeneing to this shit fresh, you heard the recording just like i did....

at the end of the day, you can always go back and listen to old stuff, so niggaz that'll be born in 2020 can still go back and put tupac, biggie, nas, jay-z , em KRS, BDK Rakhim, ETC in their top 10's..

Good observation young brother ... but T/S sounds like my 15 year old cousin (everything is wack if he doesn't understand it) ... expand what you listen to and appreciate what them cats was talking about during that era. Good Hip Hop will take you back to what was going on around that time. Go put on KRS1's "Love gonna getcha" bang it in your whip, and if you don't feel that my brother ... don't ever ever ever comment on a Hip Hop site again ... you Lady GaGa Wacka Flacka Soldier Boy era ass nigga!

Lady Gaga sold more records than half of the 80s rappers combined.

in a way i understand where the T/S coming from....... but good music is timeless.....my logic worked like this...

Im Rakim Fan.....not KRS fan....... im a Tempations Fan......fuck it i will say im a fan of the 70's music cuz thats the shit my moms was banging every Sunday....

well fuck it every damn day..... i know all the 70's music cuz it was played like crazy in the house......and created moments i wont ever forget....

i cant think of anything that Rakim or BDK past the 80's that would qualify them to be revelent to this new generation....... I understand why maybe Pac and Big.... are put in the places of Rakim and BDK.....because even though most of these kids were infants when Pac died.......Pac music and his image and just his all around love is whats keeping him alive......i really had to do my research on Rakim....and BDK......so i most def understand the T/S......and then me being a southerner....... 80's East Coast music did not impact the south the way it did on the East.........i hear these niggas talking about EPMD have classics.........i been like okay let go find a record that came out 20 yrs ago to see if its classic........

Especially when they be like "I'm only 12, im only 16, im only 14 and I love 90's hip hop and hate today's rap", aint nothin more annoying than that, and then they MUST throw Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy name in there somewhere, shit is corny.

So i guess I'm a follower due to the fact that I like luther vandross and I've never been to one of his concerts plus I didn't grow up listening to him. Some of y'all seriously respond to this dudes threads like he is really interested in having an above average conversation about this bullshit.

Rick Ross>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>KRS 1

KRS never lied about his background. His fucked up teeth prove he was homeless lol. He was already a legend, on tour radio etc while Rick was doing the C.O. thing (1995). Anyway like the old niggas or not......damn really outside of t/s niggas really feel like if you ain't experience shit firsthand you cant appreciate it? Did I have to watch the light bulb or movies being created to enjoy/benefit from that shit lol? If it aint your new generation shit its wack and overrated? This is some shit new to black music, niggas didnt shit on marvin al green james brown soul music late 80s/90s; we liked hip-hop but paid homage. See how ya'll feel in 10 years when the lil niggas do the same thing to kanye 50 waka drake wayne ross etc.

And if you were born in the 90's and hate anything before you were born, you's a fool. I had no choice but to hear old school R&B in the in the late 70's to early 80's before Hip Hop took its full grasp because my parents had crazy records and played them all the time. I remember looking into the old school TV GUIDE, peeping those COLUMBIA HOUSE tapes you could buy for a penny searching for MOTOWN RECORDS, to see who they were selling. I learned to appreciate real music so I can appreciate lyrics and songwriting from my era R&B and New Hip Hop coming from age six - '81 to present time.
