I understand both sides on one side alot of the older cats know the music so when they hear the majority of the kids today listening to garbage yall try to come correct and tell it how it is but alot of us don't listen. They think those cheesy ass bars from Wayne are hot as a Texas summer day yet think that nigga Nas is boring. And on my side there are people who there whole lives listened to this music trying to re live what you old heads have and its hard to hear someone say "you don't no shit cause your young" to us but i understand both sides maybe the older cats can connect to people my age some day because i can't tell a dude shit myself without looking like a poser hip hop fan to kids in my class that i no i know 1000x times more about hip hop than them.

everybody opinion count, but only if its reasonably intelligent. old niggas say stupid shit too and need to be checked for it. but the disrespect of young niggas toward shit they wasnt there for is crazy sometimes. i can get a nigga not liking shit. i dont like some shit now. but when my young bols break down why they like shit, i can see it their way more. i respect they opinion even when i disagree. old heads want that respect when we not cocky with it, especially cause we seen and lived shit niggas heard and read about......

idk man the way i see it is

average rappers

and

lyrical rappers

but both mc's to me

I agree with this, but it depends on the aproach. PAC wasn't average, but he wasn't lyrical (in a hip hop sense) either.

This is also why I never use the term EMCEE, but instead, it's formal term M.C., which is strictly based off of a rappers ability to rhyme words and move the crowd:

A Master of Ceremonies (shortened MC or emcee) is the host of a staged event or similar performance. An MC usually presents performers, speaks to the audience, and generally keeps the event moving. An MC may also tell jokes or anecdotes. The MC sometimes also acts as the protocol officer during an official state function. In hip hop, rock music and electronic dance music, an MC is a music artist and/or performer who usually creates and performs vocals for his own original material (not to be confused with a DJ who plays party music and creates music mixes). Shock G of Digital Underground, in the book How to Rap, notes that the term 'M.C.' in hip hop "comes from the phrase Master of Ceremonies", which explains "the M.C. prefix to so many rappers' names" (for example, MC Hammer).[1] MCs are not limited to rapping, singing is often used in hardstyle and metal music.

However, the hate towards the 80's generation has to stop.

Oh yeah and MC Hammer was the shit to me when I was a child, so my perspective is different from someone who was already in their late teens or an adult at the time.

I was born in 1982 but its the only form of music I have ever followed from being a kid, so I remember all the "golden age" and the "classic" beefs as they were unfolding....

I read some oppinions on here and I think to myself that this guy doesnt know what he is on about, and then I realise that they were probably just out the sack when the original thing happened so why would they know...

Am I the only one that feels like this?

If you were born after 1990 then please don't comment

^foreigner post

what if you were born outside the U.S.? does your opinion on Hip Hop really matter?
