Because they werent taught to appreciate it... Yall appreciated it because yall lived through it how can somebody have that same appreciate if they didnt and they werent around anybody who shared those stories? I appreciate good music and Lyricism because growing up all my brothers played were Biggie, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Nas, Jay-Z.... And i appreciate soul music because of my Parents and what they played when they were growing up.... And what yall really dont get (Old heads)... Ur gonna appreciate the music when u get into ur teenage years... Do i think Wayne is the best raper alive? Not in a million years but in hindsight how can i knock somebody if thats the only level of Lyricism they know?

And like i stated before you have to start YOUNG... The younger kids are the more they want t learn.... Dont wait until he or she is a grown ass teen with a Job and 2 kids and try to tell them what they should like musically.... It's not gonna work like that....

young niggas dont want to appreaciate it let alone listen to it. they gonna think what they wanna think about hip hop

majority of mc's have kicked some shit about bitches, hoes, and cars hell some of them thats all there fucking albums revolved around.

its just mainstream is now really commercial i don't know why guys keep throwing around this whole hip hop is dead you still got dudes who can rap

check it, most of it has to do with the production i will admit people arn't musically inclined like back then

because back then you were able to tell where the music was coming from every coast had its sound today you really don't got that

I been to a lot of concerts in my life but imma tell you straight up, aint no concert as live as a KRS concert. He is a REAL M.C.. period. I wasn't even that big on KRS when he first dropped but when you go to his show, you will leave knowing exactly what a REAL M.C. is with no question. Don't cheat yourself. Whether you are familiar with his music or not, if he ever comes to your town and puts on a show, go check it out. there is no way you will be able to leave that show without knowing EXACTLY what a REAL M.C. is. I know i'm just another nigga on the internet to you but trust me on that shit. I wasn't a big KRS dude at first either but his show will set a standard for you. You'll see he aint as arrogant as he comes off in the press either. Dude is down to earth and real as hell. He'll even invite you on stage to spit during his show and kick it with you afterwards. Just a real ass nigga that knows how to rock a crowd. period.

This is what us old heads are trying to take yall to school on. no every rapper that grabs a mic is NOT an M.C.. you have to understand what a real M.C. is. when we try to tell yall what one is, yall tell us yall disagree. what can I tell a youngster like you who hard headed like that?

its all about the time i know very well about these old school rappers like kane, rakim, fat boys, biz markie,mc shan, and others but that wasn't my time i was born in 91 in my house hold i heard shit like bone thugs,2pac,master p.

i can say dudes like 50 made good music because that was my time line.

i basically accept anything that i think has a nice tune i don't really care about opinions because thats what hip hop is about its all opinions we all have our take on good music not everybody is going to be on the same shit thats why debates like this never get anywhere because no matter what i'm going to have my opinion.

also i listen to other genres like oldies, some rock, and rnb

see that's my point dog. I was there and I know what the difference is. When I try to school a young brotha without trying to belittle him, yall turn around and basically have that attitude like ' fuck what that old ass nigga that been there sayin...I'ma use my own definition because that's what I feel'. So it is what it is. Us old heads try to school but yall hard headed young heads aint trying to hear it. *Kanye shrug*

yall can feel free to make up your own terminology of what yall feel these days and that will be cool. But don't take some shit we made up and tell us it mean something different these days. Make up your own name for what many of today's rappers do and we won't even get into these type of discussions. But don't sit up here and tell us what a real M.C. is when we made up our own meaning of it. then it won't even be a problem.

i feel your honesty on that but u need to get up on him to know the definetion of a true mc. not all rappers are mc.

And I'm not here to diss you dog. But what more can a genuine OG tell you if you aint trying to hear it? That's the problem these days. do you understand I was there the day BEFORE hip-hop started and saw the entire thing built from the very beginning? I aint just making up shit or quoting shit I read. I was THERE. How the fuck yall gonna tell me what is and what isn't a reall M.C.??? feel me bruh?

yeah i feel you and i would understand how it feels to see all these new mainstream dudes. coming from that era

Biggest bullshit ever, sorry but hiphop is suppose to be for everyone, the music is getting older so wtf do you expect the fans to give up hiphop when they hit a certain age. Plus to be honest, the older niggas are the only ones selling and putting out quality music for the most part. You niggas aren't gonna be 21 forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no i dont expect the older fans to stop listening, but i do expect them to stop demanding that music being made for and by kids cater towards their outdated view of hip hop. things change. we would have never had 90's era hip hop without the older generation moving on. Rakim, Kane, and Kool G Rap made way for the younger dudes to have their voices heard. they didnt stand in the way talking about how things were in the 80's.
