I believe the gripe of the "old heads" (myself included) is how much of a pedestal the new generation puts these new artist and song up on. Around 2005 is when this new genre of music came about starting with Dem Franchize Boyz and D4L. Both groups were criticized harshly but it sparked and ideal for years to come. A few years later Hurricane Chris came on the scene and I personally thought no one would take this guy seriously. After him Soujah Boy opened the flood gates for most of the same type of music (Waka, Gucci, GS Boys, Shop Boys Party Boys, F.L.Y., Roscoe Dash, Travis Porter, Y.G. ect...) that the record lables are backing. I know all of the newer generation do not look up to this artist but to only see them day and night on tv and on radio as saying its them or nothing when it comes to hip hop is highly annoying.

You can add LMFAO, Black Eye Peas, Flo-Rida, Pitbull (who before doing the techno hop shitTi was actually spitting some relevant shit) Timbaland, Wiz and others going the Euro Techno Hip Hop bullshit faze which is just as bad as the wack shit you listed..

^^this right here....

Good music is good music, no matter the time period. We recognize influences and such, but we're allowed to put artists in our era on pedestals and lists just as much as the old heads. Old heads, we respect you all and your music, but unless it really is wack, you don't really need to bash everything in this era. There is great music here if you look for it.

There is a young nigga on here who actually started a thread claiming Rakim was straight up garbage. I aint making that up. use the search feature. everyone's got an opinion but it's the young dudes on here that start the most threads with the sole purpose of shitting on a legend. it aint the other way around. it's like they are on a mission to discredit anything before their time. if they think that then oh well. But it's just weird to see and comprehend sometimes. Make an appreciation thread of almost any legend and it's soon filled up with hate from the youngsters. you can search that too. To be real, most of the hate threads about today's gabage rappers are by young fans too though. Basically it's just that the young heads seem to be the ones full of hate, disrespect and criticism the most. niggas just seem to get off on full blown hating.

guys born in the 60's and 70's will always have an air of superiority because they accomplished the most. Especially those born 1965-1975>>>>>Thats the hot spot right there. Dr Dre, Slick Rick, KRS One, Kane, Rakim, G Rap, Fresh Prince, LL, Cube, Snoop, Black Thought, Pun, Pac, Biggie, NaS, AZ,EM, Bone, Common, Twista, Scarface, UGK, Diddy, Hova, 50 Cent etc etc..

Hip-Hop as a Genre isn't that old. Listeners from the "Golden Era" and before are still around and can tell you how shit was and share actual experiences so there are people who can be referenced that know MORE. Therefor, your analogy doesn't work.

The problem with the Golden Era cats (B. 1955-early 60's & dominated 73-83) is that they had the influence BUT MOST DIDN'T MAKE THE MONEY OR GET THE EXPOSURE, so it's hard for them to get recognized.

The 80's babies grew up during it's commercial rise and the 90's babies are growing up during the age of hybridization. A lot of 80's babies with skills were looked over that would not have been if they came out in the 90's.

So again, 1965-1975 reigns supreme just like the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The stars aligned for those cats and they gave it their best shot.

Rappers are better now than they were in the past

just like athletes are better.

Yea they better skill-wise but these niggas lack in fundamentals. That's why you have certain rappers/players hot for a season or two (Tmac, Carter, Arenas) but the real niggas have more substance and accolades (Duncan, Kobe etc)

Your missing the point im trying to point out how dumb it is to say a person not living through something means he doesn't have a clue about it.

I have listened to too many albums and watched too much footage of hip hop at its best to be looked down too by any hip hop head no matter his age.

Do you also care to back up that statement. No current rapper is being debated for GOAT.

Fucking idiots on here I swear.

Nah I got your point 100% it was just a fucked up example. You joked that you should tell your history teacher to stfu about the renaissance if she wasn't there. But that comparison is a bad one because no one from that time is alive to give you first hand accounts as opposed to this genre. Hip-Hop is only what? Almost 40 years old? You can still get schooled on it from first hand info.

Technical Ability wise, rappers have downgraded from the 80's to now? Don't make yourself look stupid out here fam.

Did I say downgrade? You made the statement they are better skill wise...you still have yet to give any valid reasoning for this.

I'm actually waiting to hear this bullshit so proceed.

Again...no current rapper is being debated for GOAT.

Got damn you even open up your post with a contradictory sentence.
What does a contender for a GOAT title have to do with technical aspects of rhyming? Tupac is considered a GOAT and there are tons of niggas that can just plain rap circles around that nigga. But his MUSIC and other factors all combined to give him that standing in certain fans eyes. Solely, those two things (being able to spit and being a GOAT contender) don't correlate so stop with the bullshit. I'm saying strictly SKILL wise as in being able to drop lyrically impressive verses, rappers today are no question better with the pen game then they were in the 80's and early 90's.
