I understand what you're saying and I respect it. My point is just that prison doesn't really teach you to be a better person. It teachers you ways to get around the system. I don't see it as a way to fundamentally end problems, because it's an economic and political issue, not a moral one. I'm not just talking about a case of me being robbed, it's more of niggas robbing in society as a whole and being put in the pen for it when prison practices punishment, not real change.

Communities need to push for more programs to work with non-violent offenders. Theyre alot of them out there but people dont make there representatives push them onto the Sheriffs. I remember a city made the Sheriff reduce his occupancy before they would give him a budget. Dude came up with all kinds of programs. Now they dont have to build a new jail. they are spending the money on the programs. One is called "How not to rape!" Crazy right!

I agree. There has to be a lot of accountability on communities to step up. There are some people I know involved in teen reconciliation for crime in Brooklyn. Ever since they started it, there is a significant drop in the amount of violent crime in the area of Red hook. So I think it's good that those kinds of programs and raping programs exist because they are about people taking control of their neighborhood enacting social change that way.
