Yea funny but it will get worse. I just don't know whats beyond stannery at the moment!!! Its crazy people still catch feelings on this nas vs jay thing and are blinded by the aftermath of these two greats after the battle. I guarantee ignorance will continue on this thread. Aint it crazy when Nas and jay are brought into a thread together the thread turns into diamond?? LMAO!!! 2001 will never leave this website.

And that's because...the ether is still burning slooooooow, lol. Smh @ ppl claiming that The Lost Tapes isn't an album, people are entitled to their opinions, but smh...

You also know a jigga disciple has lost it when they bring up that ether was a bunch of childish jokes and lies and takeover was straight fact. LMAO!! Takeover was a bunch of opinions and exaggeration with the exception of last line of the 3rd verse. But when people bring that up about takeover the jigga clan wants to riot and crucify a nigga from telling it like it is. I don't care what anyone says but ether (yes some line were opinions and exaggeration) had more truths and damaging lines than takeover/supaugly had combined. Our blindness for our heroes never seems to amaze me. But I gotta admit they are a lot of Jay fans I met that said Nas murked him undeniably compared to the vice versa and it wasn't even close. So it is what is.

Nas is the #2 rapper on my list, but he defines lyricism.

I think it says a lot about Nas that he has no "clones" out. People have copied Jay, Pac, Em, Biggie, Ra, etc...but I have NEVER heard anyone come close to mimicking nas. No one raps like him.

Theres a few rappers that could be put over Nas.

Cube, Scarface, Ghost, Pac, Common all could claim to being GOATS.

thats my top 5 there. Takeout Cube and insert Talib. Cube is no. 7 in my list after Black Thought. But back to matters at hand. The culture is scared to crown Nas as GOAT and i can go ahead and say Nas has a more legitimate claim to Being GOAT compared to the others except Pac. Can Cube craft an album like Distant Relatives,Godsson or IWW? I dont think so but Nas can get Political. Nas can do what Ghost & Face can do but both of them cant come close to doing shit that Nas does.(Creativity/Concepts) plus they yet to be battle tested while Common cant give us Hiphop is Dead type of album. Bottom line is Nas only threat is Pac

NAS first album was 5 mics ILLMATIC was one of the best of all time.

NAS second album was still damn good. 4.25

and then he went to sleep and made a whole bunch of 2.5 to 3 mics for about 10 years. he got lazy! and made crap like oochie wally and then make a song like One Mic and make me believe him again. But hes mad inconsistent. wayyyyy to incosistent to be mentioned as the best!!!

hes like a star QB who won the superbowl his rookie year and then the rest of his career he made the playoffs again here and there but never got back to his incredible debut.

HOW YOU GONNA BE THE GREATEST WITH ONE 5 MIC ALBUM??

hes in my top 8 but #1 spot. not quite!

JIGGA is more consistent!! i have a love hate relationship with NAS because he blew me away with his verses on Main Source Live At The BBQ and then ILLMATIC. i still bump that on the regular but i think BIGGIE WAS RIGHT when he dissed NAS on Kick in the door!

Ain't no other king in this rap thing

They siblings, nothing but my chil'ren

One shot, they disappearin

Its ill when, MC's used to be on cruddy shit

Took home, Ready to Die, listened, studied shit

Now they on some money shit,

NAS went from insightful street poet, listened to Steve Stoute and start calling himself NAS ESCOBAR and trying to take on BIGGIE's Black Frank White persona and it never was in NAS nature and then of course that AWFUL FIRM album. one good song. PHONE TAP and the rest was garbage. thats the inconsistent stuff im talking about!!

in saying that I still say top 8. considering the hundreds of ni99az that tried to spit in 30 years of recorded hip hop hes got his legend status but i aint making dude #1

i guess t/s never heard of an opinion

This...

Yall sheep-ass nigaas want everybody to think the same.

IMO, Jay is better than Nas. Nas in my top 3, after Em, then Jay. No classics for Jay? RD, Blueprint, BA, & AG was an instant classic to me. Classic verses? Renegade, You Dont Know, Is That Yo Chick, "Diamonds" remix, Black Republicans, etc...

I fucks with Nas, theres no one more heartfelt, nor realer in his songs, but, Jay is that fuckin dude. Jay has never been irrelevant. Nas was @ one time, unless you were really checking for him.

Jay has set trends, more charisma, more consistency, and ppl fallin out when he "retired". You have to give props when props are due. Even when you dont fuck with their music. Like YMCMB. I dont fuck with their shit, but I cant hate on the fact them niggas is doin it right now. Dont know for how long, but they got it for now.

Em

Jay

Nas

FACT in regards to all aspect not just your opinion, Nas is not GOAT. an internet hall of famer yes but not the GOAT

his discography and accolades dont match these claims, he has won ONE major award in a 20 year career. He has arguebly 3 critically acclaimed albums the rest are panned.

Nas fans never mention outside the music nor should they because he takes serious loses after his def jam submission that had any man with two testicles forever look at nas funny.

I think Nas is the best rapper because he verses are poetic especially his earlier work but only slightly above my other favs. as for rap MUSIC nas is a strong stay in the top 10 and thats for life, who will come before and after him will have to adjust to his position because the potency of his earlier work could kick shakespeare and bob dylan off stage.

2011 - Nas is just one of the few great rappers, poor musician.

Jay cant make music his the reason this shit is polluted now, Jay is mathematician when it comes to making music. Whatever is the hot trend he will add and subtract what he sees on the charts and popular culture.

dude went from 'more rocks than colarado, champagne by the bottle' - classic 95/96 potent braggadacio true to life rhymes to 'hermes bag straight from steve madden' popular culture red carpet hoe.

Jay cant sniff top 10 in music aspect, but as a rapper because of his earlier work and glimses hear and there dude is top 10.

He is forever a hoe, though.

Props to Nas for going to Def Jam he was able to release the most racially charged and political material of his entire career.

Nas will always be #1 to me because he represents the essence of HipHop culture not just the street-side or the party side with his lyrics.

He is revered unanimously by his peers and even former enemies, and his longevity in the game is a testament to his greatness.

I don't think there will ever be some one better at crafting pure street-poetry than Nas.

My brother Mumo! Wass good.

Nas always incorporated cultural themes in his music that allowed me to see that he was making his music for us.

Some times I hear songs on the radio and I think to myself that the song wasn't made for me but most likely made for some blonde-haired chick from Montana.

It's amazing how Nas has been able to maintain his cultural identity after being in the industry for this long, his growth has been in the direction of Africa while other rappers like JayZ have been moving in the direction of Europe.

What's wrong with making music for the Euros?? Please tell me that aint the reason you have esco over jay. It aint about just making music for the motherland, you need to spread your words globally. The Euros also love Nas as well. Trust me I've been there. We need to stop this foolery talk about hip hop just being for the blacks. Hip Hop should be and is embraced by all races. I know Indians that listen to rap music like KRS-ONE, Biggie and etc.

waddup familia, jus chillin @ work. But i fully cosign what u jus spit. Nas is the epitome of what a hiphop emcee should be like. It gives me a great sense of joy, satisfaction and pride to see Nas evolve musically and stil maintain that Consciouness in his Music and never at one point hopd into the latest trends. His critics are quick to point out that his Nastradamus LP had 'u owe me' but they forget to mention that Nas laced us with socially conscious joints like "God Love us" "Last Words" "project windows" .. At no time in his career has he compromised his beliefs for financial gain. From live @ the bbq to chillin in tuff gong studios in trenchtown wit Bob Marley seeds.
