Nas won the battle and lost the war.

Rappers like 50, Cam, Jim Jones, and Jeezy all took heavy shots at him and all they got back were some subliminals.

He's been making the best and most authentic music of his career since Illmatic with: Gods Son, HHID, Untitled, & Distant Relatives and hardly anybody cares.

Why hasn't his position in rap improved if he won? Shouldn't more people be checking for him, not less?

How did Nas lose a war? the battle was about who would win between Nas and Jay, not who would have the most mainstream success.

And as for the bolded, the same can be said for Jay-Z, so how did Nas lose a 'war' and Jay-Z didn't?

to put it simple you nas stans picked him as the winner cause he put jay on his ass with ether...not knowing that match went to the cards and in the end jay won....

how did it go to the cards when ether was a knockout,.....and there wasnt a war they battled and settled their differences after that

I was just listening to Illmatic today and man, it's just amazing at how brilliant that album is. Everytime I listen to that album, I'm always noticing more clever lyrics that I never noticed the last time around. And the production, was just perfect.

It Was Written was an excellent, if not better follow up.

Wish I can say the same for Sean.

2nd of my list, unfortunately he is going up against a nigga who has been more consistent and accomplished more than him.

Yeah, It Was Written is a good album. It was a nice follow up to Illmatic specifically because he didn't make Illmatic Part 2. Nas kept moving it foward.

Jay came outta that battle injured too. His rep hasnt been the same since, but most of that is due to the Rocafella break up.

Nas is GOAT and the reason that most people don't want to admit it is because he's their favorite rappers GOAT as well

You know what so amazing is that Illmatic is the best rap album ever made and IWW is the best sophomore album ever. So you talkin bout a rapper who has Certified Classics with his first 2 albums.

LOL lets be real dude, Nas has had two dry spells in his career when he just got off peoples radar. People stop giving a fuck about him post IWW up until Stillmatic and now he has been in the same rut since God Son.

You can yap about flopping all you fucking want about Jay, but his albums and music generate interest and consistently sell, plus AMerican Gangster has been better than any fucking thing Nas has put out in the last 5 years.

I love how you idiots love ignoring American Gangster.
