Traditionally speaking, it's supposed to be two months pay. I didn't shell that much out when I got married because I spent a lot on our honeymoon and I wasn't in the best spot financially.

Our 5 year anniversary is next year though, and I'm doin aiight, so she will be getting that upgrade. If she's your queen, she's worth it.

I spent 5k, for the first one then 10 for the replacement. Both princess cut single diamond, first was 1 carat the second is 1 1/4 carat.

Not that it was necessary but I felt like I was buying it for me.

No need to spend out of your budget just cop something you can be proud of.

Nigga, stop playing! People get divorced every day!

Nah, don't listen to my single ass. I'll get you sent off for real lol.

If you pay for any engagement ring, you lost. They are out there brainwashing people into thinking that these are the requirements to a marriage. Marriage isn't about money and how big that rock is. Same shit w these kids in high school and promise rings. Shit is all a marketing scheme to steal your money.

There's nothing wrong with being traditional at times. If you and yours are fine with it, that's one thing. He doesn't "lose" if he wants to get his woman a ring. Smh...

Terrible logic.

If you feel pressured to buy a ring you cant afford to appease your spouse then that might be a problem. If you buy a ring cause you want to then so be it.

The De Beers corporation created a marketing scheme called engagement rings to get sucka niggas to buy diamond rings for their women. It's even worse for black people because diamonds and gold used to make the rings came from slave labor and stolen African land. So they rob you on one side of the Atlantic and make you buy it back at an inflated price on the other side.

I don't mean to burst anybodies bubble, but we focus on too much shit that doesn't matter. Focus more on the tradition of loving your prospective wife and being a good father, and less on a stupid ring.

If you wanna do it, go ahead. I just think that the way marriage is perceived by people is just shitty to me. That's an opinion I can have.

No one is disputing your right to an opinion, but you can't say someone "lost" because they're thinking about getting their significant other a ring.

And I'm very aware of the history and plight of wedding/diamond rings/jewelry and what have you, but guess what? My parents have been happily married for 30 years and they have wedding rings. My grandparents -- over 50 years.

Wedding rings are not a necessity to display your love for someone, but most do choose to follow tradition and I'm just saying that, if it ain't setting you back and you wanna do it, then there's nothing wrong with it.

Bruh...do u even got a girl tho?

Im looking at rings at the moment too. Its about that time. I aint have to tell my girl what the budget was, she smart enough to not wild out. Everything she looked at and liked was bout 2-4k so its all good it seems.

Im trying to decide if I should just drop cash and buy it or get then 0% off financing. I hate dropping money on shit, but i also hate monthly payments. Fuck it.

Spend whatever is in your budget. It's just a ring it's not your actual relationship. That whole tradition thing is bullshit though. Its just a marketing campaign that was started by DeBeers to sell diamonds because they had too many and wanted to make the average working person feel like they could afford them and not just rich people.
