I Love you Nasir but after ETHER........

The question is, did he get stronger musically after "Ether." Sure, he's winning personally and business wise, but what does it have to do w/ the battle. Besides, I don't know if anybody noticed, but:

"Ether" calls Jay out for being insecure about his looks. Before "Ether" nobody really knew if Jay was romantically involved w/ anybody besides Nas's BM, Carmen which wasn't made public until after "Ether." "Ether" drops and Jay Z scoops up the baddest chick in the game. Was this to compensate and safe face?

Before "Ether", Jay wasn't making any major business moves besides him being co-CEO of the Roc and doing the Roc-A-Wear clothing line. After "Ether", Jay's doing shoe deals, retiring from music to become one of the owners for the Mets, opens 40/40, becomes president of Def Jam. Again, was this to compensate? I mean, Nas said "I get it, you Biggie, and he's Puffy."

Before "Ether", Jay never made concessions, but after "Ether", the song "Blueprint 2" (an ill song, but weak diss) finds Jay basically whining about how Nas cheated to win. The double disc finds Jay reminding everyone of his accomplishments which is the same reminder we've been given on every release since barring American Gangster. Thos albums find Jay Z basically rapping his resume. Again, was he trying to compensate?

This is just an observation. Jay Z is one of the greatest rappers ever, but "Ether" was damaging.

Business wise, yeah, that's pretty obvious Jay got stronger.

In terms of making music, Nas discography continues to get stronger while Jay's gets weaker.

Can't argue with that. I thought Jigga couldn't do worse than that comeback catastrophe Kingdom Come, but them corny electro-pop beats & wack-ass hooks on Blueprint 3 were some of the worst I ever heard in my life. Shit was horrible....

Post Ether it would seem both artists have done what they normally do. Nas stayed consistant as a Hip Hop artist and Jay as a Hip Pop artist.

one minute you praising nas next minute your making fun of him.Make up your mind nigga

YOu can criticize and give props. NObody ALWAYS wrong and ALWAYS right mane. That said, good thread.

NAS only won the PR battle and people have a fuzzy sense of history about that whole battle anyway cuz NAS didnt even win the damn battle. Sorry but a bunch of females calling in and saying they're voting for NAS Ether cuz JayZ "was disrespecting women" is wack.

Jay-Z Takeover was 100 % facts NAs Ether was like 20 % facts. Either way NAS won the PR battle Jay-Z won the war.

And I'd word it differently. Jay got SMARTER after Ether. Notice how he dont battle no more directly. At this stage he cant win even if he wins. If he wins SO WHAT you Jay-Z. Even a tie is a loss for him at this point.
