Yea niggas don't rap like that they rap better then that

Man, this topic really is showing me how different people's tastes are. That verse you put up is definitely nothing special. Really don't understand how you figure that's better than the Lo verse you're responding too. Half that verse is filler. Like I said before, with Cee Lo, every line has distinct meaning and says something. With the verse you put, half of it just reiterating the same point in the same way taking up space. That's not impressive. If Cee Lo drops a 16 line verse, every line is going to be distinct and still connected to the main point. In the style that you're referencing, four of those lines will state that point, the other 12 will really just be clever ways of reiterating the same thing. I'll admit sometimes it sounds cool, but when you analyze it, the verse is mostly fluff.

And I'm glad to see people addressing that Silk comment because I have no idea where buddy came from with that. I can't think of one song where Cee Lo sounded remotely like Silk. Silk couldn't ride a beat to to save his life. Cee Lo has only lost a beat in one song that I can recall and it was intentional and he referenced the fact in the rhyme.

I don't see how u think that dry ass verse dude posted from cee Lo is nicer then wut jay spit... cee Lo verse was real but on some conversation shit like it don't even seem like a rap seem like hehe talkin 2 somebody and the last word of every sentence just happen 2 rhyme... he's not creative at all and ya'll sayin how great he is but u have yet 2 show me he raps real shit about real life but he does it in the most simplist manner and creativity has a lot 2 do with hip hop jay spit some real shit and make it creative shit be nice... cee Lo not that nice. He not ill at all and it has nothin 2 do with his lack of punches or metaphors he just a basic rapper with something 2 say

Dear ma I'm in this cell
Lonely as hell
Writin this scribe
Thinkin bout how u must feel inside
You try and teach me better but I refused to grow
Got damn I ain't the young man that you used 2 know
you say the streets claim lives
But I wanted things like bling bling ice
I was wrong in hindsight
Shit we grew apart tried 2 blame it on ur new spouse
I know it hurt like hell the day u kicked me out
But ur house is ur house I ain't respect the rules
I brought crack past ur door beefed wit rival crews
And who wants to be the mother of a son who sells drugs
Co workers seen me on the corner slingen larry love
Mean while u workin hard like 2 or 3 jobs tryin feed me and my siblings
Makin a honest liven
Who am I kidden
I call my self easen the load I made the load heavy
I need money 4 commissary
Try 2 understand

Now that's real shit but at the same time he kept his bars up

You got me confused now man. I was about to give you credit for the post before because I'll admit that way Cee Lo puts things may not be as creative as Jay. I respect the realness of Cee Lo's lyrics more than the creativity of Jay's and that's why I think Cee Lo is better.

However, I don't know where you're going with that verse you just put up. It is just as simple as what you accuse Cee Lo of delivering. So how can you knock Lo for that and then turn around and praise Jay for it? That Jay verse dedicated to his mother is no more creative than Lo's verse dedicated to his mother.

My Moma, destination unknown, went out on her own

She was barely even grown and became my Moma

I never knew my dad, so even when the times got bad

I was glad cause I had my Moma

For so long she had to be strong

I know at certain times she was wrong

But she still my Moma, it still amazes me

The Lord had to help her raise me judging from the way I used to be

My Moma, the biggest player that I know I love her so

Hell everything I got I owe to my Moma

Thank you for caring, thank you for sharing yo' luv

I guess that was yo' way of preparing

Yo' son to be the one and not the two

To make you and my daddy's dream come true

But what a surprise a car wreck left you paralyzed

The sheet was pulled over yo' eyes when the doctor advised

The family that you might not ever talk again

But you talkin' so I know that you gon' walk again

But take yo time, guess who's the inspiration for the rhyme... My Moma

All that said, I can see why we disagree now though. You talk about Cee Lo delivering verses like he's talking but just happening to rhyme as a bad thing. To me that's tight, because it shows how natural rapping is from him. He doesn't need to use filler lines or excessive slang or a bunch of figurative language. He could break that shit down simple as hell and still have it on a beat and rhyme and sound tight. There is a difference between simple and easy. What Cee Lo does isn't easy. If it was, everyone would be writing shit like him and they aren't. I respect Jay's creativity, but like I said in my first post, Cee Lo's lyrics are realer and have more impact than Jay's and I respect that more. Oh, and to point another thing out, look at that verse that you put. It's real shit and a good verse, but Jay had to sacrifice rhyming for that. Cee Lo can do the same thing and still maintain ill rhyme schemes.

I don't personally feel he's better than Lupe, Mos Def, or DOOM but he's definitely nice, imperfect perfections is a definite classic in my opinion; "gettin grown" is one of the best songs he's made I think

I don't get the Lupe hype. He's cool, but I don't see how people are always throwing his name out there with greats and other artists with years of quality under their belts. Then again I'm not all that interested in hearing a dude rap about skateboarding and giant robots (I know he probably has more subject matter than that, I'm just kidding sort of).
