When I talk about a young early twenties above average lyricist....that heavily reps a major US urban hub with a high black population...thats signed to one of the vanity labels of one of the biggest names in rap...thats been grinding since about 07/08ish and has a successful mixtape series...and raps about everything from relationships to swag to clothes/shoes to somewhat conscious subject matter....

Who am I talking about? Big Sean or Wale?

Its not so much their style and flow thats interchangeable. It's their image. They fill the same niche.

And Pittsburgh isn't as known for its Black population as DC or Detroit is.

Back to the point, a clearly conveyed image will trump any subject matter, style or flow because most people don't give a shit about lyricism or lyrical styles. An image gives people something to relate to.

What im saying is that Wale and Big Sean imagewise nearly have nothing distinguishable from each other to the general public. You have to sell yourself imagewise first because thats what people both consciously/subconsciously are checking for first.
