Might want to check hip hop sales overall

Yet people still claim one person selling a mil first week is good for hip hop

smh

I don't understand the point of first week sales

it basically just dictates how much hype u had b4 a album drop. flocka did 37k his first week, but still sold 250k overall, so first week don't always determine how you'll do in the long run.

Alot of those "first week" sales are not actually bought copies, but more of ordered packages the stores bought to sell

BTW this is another of the 100's of threads that The T/S will proclaim their amazement as to why a certain artist gets attention while unknowlingly doing that exact thing in creating said threads........... The Irony.....

and no gold album to go with that.

its def lop sided but in this day in age .... its already etched in stone if you name isnt Kanye, Jayz, or Em you aint moving units like that .... so as long as he is dropping hit records he will be good a la .... Gucci, Wacka etc.... they all barely sell records but they been dropping hit singles thats been putting up some big #'s ...... however the budgets for them albums are geared towards that ....... now big sean is with kanye which is a sample heavy label .... so not sure if they took the same precaustions with big seans album cause i know he def got top notch production on this album ... he might just be in the red with this album .... but with the hit making potential its gonna keep him afloat and working especially if he can continue to drop hits ... a la soulja boy ........

i think you're confusing that with certifications which based on shippings not actual sales

yup cause as far as i know those first week numbers are based on soundscan ... and soundscan is based off barcodes that were swiped ... which 9/10 equals purchased music @ retail ;)

not surprised. most artists these days have wack sales. Doesnt mean theyre wack tho. Big Sean is nice on the mic. Lookin forward to his mixtape wit wiz khalifa and curren$y (How Fly Boys - How Fly 2)

If that nigga curren$y is about to do a mixtape with Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa, then he's about to commit career suicide.

number 1 where?

but anyway, sean was cool on the FF mixtapes, and the album was cool..

but everything that nigga did after that has been wacc..

makes me wonder why the fuck i ever liked him, cuz his flow is atrocious..

marvin gaye and chardonnay wacc as fuck too..

US Billboard Rap Songs. Everything else you said is irrelevant.

And btw, platinum is still platinum. Eminem, Drake, Wayne, Jay, and Kanye are still coming out the gate with 400-500k plus and hitting plat later on. The only difference is that them rappers that suck aren't also going plat.
