Trap rap is not "gangsta" rap to me. I mean, its Trap Rap. It has its own genre pretty much. I try to give hip hop/rap different genres bruh. Trap Rap is different in essence than what I consider gangsta rap. But to others it might be one in the same. To each his own.

As for the other bolded, thats pretty much been my point. Gangsta/Street Rap is aggressive real life tales of pain, despair, struggle, etc... Most rappers were that. De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, Tribe were different back then too. For me, I loved all that shit. It was about the musical execution though. These dudes dont have good execution with their music and it's no artistry.

I think America has changed, but it's been this way. America in itself moves in cycles. The same way Prince had cats wearing slicked down hairs and womens cloting/make up is just coming back again. It's all trends. The world runs off perception. People perceive the latest trend as to be where they need to be, and respond as such. Which is why Wiz, Odd Future, and all these dudes are making moves. The world is promoting a lot of agendas, these artists spearhead the agendas. Rap has always been that way to be honest. The industry is all smoke and mirrors anyway. Look at Lady Gaga. Classic case of agendas being promoted. A lot of these other rappers fit the same roles too. I mean, hey to each his own.
