For those saying no...explain why it's not

It takes more than being liked by alot to be considered a classic. Musically, the shit had a moment in time. I can use Vic's "Wobble" as a example. Still a fairly young song, but when that shit comes in a club or bar, people get up and start groving to it. "Don't like" was introduced to us via the internet, and I haven't heard it anywhere else. Kanye gave it a little more shine when he put it on his album, but it wasn't a song that was universal and heard on a large scale. "Love Sosa" had more mass appeal than "Don't Like". I mean the people that liked it, and supported it. But give it time and eventually it gets to a point where even the fans play it once in a blue moon. I hate to show my progression into old headism, but look at "California Love". That shit can be played at Laker games, Warrior games, the club, the bar, Down South, & even NY to warm welcome. "Don't Like" isn't a classic. You guys just like it alot. And that's ok..

Yeahhhhhh you're missing the point...

And backinwhite is right...

You niggas buggin.....

I went and re-read your OP. You're pretty much calling it a classic, because other niggas were able to piggy back off of it. Backinwhite himself stated everybody else after Chief Keef didn't do much.

The career trajectories has nothing to do with the basis of the argument at all. The song introduced a culture to mainstream hip hop, it paved the way for many artists, it introduced a new sub-genre to the mainstream, it brought Chicago to the forefront again, it made people become enamored/more aware of the aspect of violence that was present in the city

But hey you disagree though which is cool, you're just in the minority

See shit like this is why some people say The Reason is weird. Lol. Fuck It. I'll be in the minority. I have no problem with that. All of my friends favorite wrestler was Steve Austin growing up, and I was the only one who liked the The Rock. But let's keep it a buck, did "Don't Like" bring attention to Chicago's violence? Or was it the death of Lil JoJo?

Fuck it..... I quit.

The term "classic" is dead

20 years from now we going to hear dont like and "turn up"?

Nah

"Back that ass up" is a classic song.

This shit just ass

The song isn't classic cuz of popularity or cuz it's a good song

It's classic off impact alone

It ushered in a wave of new artists and a new sound that some old artists incorporated into their sound

Niggas don't have comprehension

I really don't care for impact determining a classic, it's bout how u feel bout the song. It's shit I consider classic that had minimal impact worldwide

So because a song ushers in some forgettable garbage its classic?

Impact alone doesnt make a classic.
