His last two albums quickly went gold with little mass appeal outside of their titles. He'll do the same. It'll just take awhile longer.

Agreed. He's burying his own career. I dont see what's so hard about making one or two songs per album that can appeal to your non core fanbase.

Nas don't need to any non core fanbase, hes good where he is at. Its cats like you that will ask Immortal Technoque to jump on a track with Britney Spears, not every rapper has to dickride and compromise their musical integrity, Nas is at a point in his career where he don't have to pander to anybody, if he wants to release Nasty as a single then so be it cause rest assure he'll go Gold with it.

You're an idiot.

Aint nobody talking about him making songs with no talent bubblegum singers. Nas was a multiplatinum star off of songs like "If I Ruled the World" and "Hate Me Now". Nas proved he could get radio play and sales without crossing all the way before. Regardless of what people like you say, selecting good beats and making catchy hooks isnt compromising musical integrity. It's called selling records while still maintaining credibility. When you're as establishes as Nas is, I dont see why it's so hard to do both.

Nas is still relevant. He don't need to sign with YMCMB. He needs to stay where he's at, making the music he knows how to make instead of selling out, and doing all these dubstep/techno beats that rappers are using now-a-days. He needs to keep making songs like Nasty, keep that old school sound around.

Laughing at this whole thread.

This whole arugment is as dubious as it is asinine.

So, let me get this straight:

You meant to tell mean an artist who's been in the game almost 20 years, dropped multiple platinum albums, including what's widely considered THE greatest hip-hop album of all-time, who's widely considered to be Top 5 Dead or Alive for the last 15 years running is being questioned about relevancy in today's hip-hop? And all because they don't play his latest songs in the club for chicks who listen to shit like "Hard In the Paint"?

Is THAT what this thread is about?

OK, then...carry on.

Nas is the GOAT.

Nas has never fallen off.

Nas verse on Carter 4, Nas with Common, Nas on Nasty >>>> most verses out this year

Wasn't really feeling Tower Heist but for a commercial movie song, it is what it is...

Barely Gold

For a guy on his way out who's been barely doing gold he may or may not see gold again. It depends on whos on the record with him. We know Wayne is going to return the favor and perhaps Bun B. But who is truly checking for this album?

He's still making good music out here though but that is never enough these days
