How is Eminem anywhere near a top 10 rapper based on catalog alone?

Eminem's early work is beyond incredible. Eminem's recent work is beyond terrible. People denying Infinite, SSLP, MMLP, and The Eminem Show is beyond me.I can see why he is in someone's top ten. There is no such thing as a right or wrong GOAT list, but there are educated and uneducated opinions. There seems to be a lot of hatred on dude for being white, not like he chose to be white. Any rapper that has gone gold has a white fan base. Even rappers that have not sold that much more than likely do. He's had a career musically of two extreme's, but his popularity is still extreme. You ever bring up how bad Eminem's lyrics are to people and they attack you? It is like telling people J Cole's flow is generic or Lil Wayne has wack lyrics. The people who place him so high and are not educated in the music and are not apart of the culture are not taken seriously by me. If you can not name three members of the Juice Crew and tell me what BDP stands for, I do not take your opinion serious at all.

don't confuse sales with impact nigga, because how in the hell did those albums change how niggas rap or how beats were produced. Not to mention those albums are heavily flawed with wack songs

Why do albums have to change something to be considered great/classic?

Duhhhh, because classics or once in a lifetime and generational defining album. That's like asking why must winning a NBA title make you best of the best.

You're giving your own definition.

Because I definitely remember how big the MMLP was when it was out

They don't..

if this was the case then 808s & Heartbreak is a classic cuz that shit changed to some extent and had a huge impact on hip hop..but u don't see nobody on here callin that album a classic..

Exactly

808s changed the landscape of hip-hop and opened up the lane for Drake, Cudi, and others.

So that album IS a classic.

LOLOL ok lets play it your way - what did the 2Live Crew, Beastie Boys, The D.O.C or De La Soul impact musically that's still felt or relevant today tho ? What did their albums change musically ?? No one doubts that they had classics. What about Reasonable Doubt ? When that album came out it came and went and it didn't change anything musically, it was overshadowed by DMX, NaS, Wu Tang Clan and eventually Dr.Dre and Eminem. But we don't doubt RD being a classic.

Music doesn't have to change 'how niggas rap or how beats were produced' in order to be hailed a classic.

And fuck your trolling LOLOL, got dayum I got a soft spot for Hip-Hop :( I must be stronger next time :(

Gotta answer this, cuz it irks the fuck outta me.

2 Live Crew - first indie group/label to go gold, pioneered the southern movement

Beastie Boys - first white rappers to blow up, fused rap, rock and other genres, Paul's Boutique innovated sampling techniques

De La Soul - made it cool to be nerdy, ask Lupe, Kanye and them... one of the first, if not the first to incorporate skits in their albums, 3 Feet another innovator of sampling

You got me on DOC... I agree though, a classic album doesn't necessarily have to be groundbreaking... but it better be damn close.

I mean. His debut album is one of the best albums of all time. Hands down classic. Timeless. Every track can still be played today and its just as good as it was in 1999.

Yeah its the only em album i can listen to without skipping a track and the production on that album wasn't whack like his other albums.

My point remains the same take all white buyers out of the equation eminem is wood jayz gold pac plat....so what does this mean the urban market an by that I mean black does not fuck with eminem ..an who is hiphop made for in truth black people so he has no thrown ....thank u very much .. ..signed obvious

Eminem opened the lane for other White rappers to be success full being themselves good or bad..an his 3am serial killer raps are good as far base as humanity goes.
