Depends how I'm dressed. I can look like I'm a drummer in a punk rock band, or I can look like I just got in from a rodeo. My hair and facial hair length also play a role. I look way tougher with short hair.

I wonder that a lot professionally. I work at a big ass company that really does allow you to be you and don't get hung up on the normal corporate bullshit, but it's still a huge corporation so that can only go so far. I know the perception of me has kept me from a few opportunities, but I made a conscious choice to just do me. Working out pretty good so far.

The real funny shit is that my dream is to get into Hollywood and on the few occasions that I've had meetings with producers and studio execs about some shit I've written, I can FEEL them looking down at a nigga. But in that arena the work speaks for itself so they gotta respect the kid.

Probably the same way that the main super-villain is perceived when first introduced in a movie/show. That's not to say that people perceive me as a villain--quite the opposite--they perceive me as someone superior or better. I get asked "How did you become so good at this?" or "How do you know so much?", by people who consider themselves to be intelligent quite often. They find it hard to relate to me when talking about their life's problems, because everything seems to go so well for me. All in all though, they see me as a nice guy.
