Charlie is right: its really a change of lifestyle.

Ive never been overweight, but I was skinny most of my life.

I decided to bulk up a few years ago, and the gym is only HALF of the process...and thats gaining or losing.

Once i really got dedicated, i realized my lifestyle had changed (sleeping habits, eating habits, the whole 9)

and good for you charlie.

The worse is the women who are on the ellipticals. Ma you can't burn any significant calories doing that. Get your ass on the treadmill and start sweatin smh.

Then they got the nerve to say they tired and had a good workout from an elliptical.

Hol up, swole up.....I use the elliptical. I get in 3 miles, and my heart rate up to 180, so I gets my funk on. I like that better than the treadmill because its easier on my knees.

to be honest, from a fat black woman's perspective ( cause ya'll never been in my shoes to even talk about this topic):

It begins with the food. It's impossible to lose weight by consuming 3500+ calories per day with 30mins -1 hour worth of exercising.

It boils down to food consumption, understanding how the calories I was consuming was really affecting my body, learning the true meaning of "High-fructose", learning how to really "count calories", properly understanding food portions and weighing food by the ounce, learning to live life without liquid crack aka soda, adapting to enjoy the tastes of vegetables and other greens, and truly noticing that I am less hungry and more fulfilled by living a healthier lifestyle which include exercising (which is why I invested in myself a 2 year 24 hour membership fully paid).

It's been a long way from where I was as a person a 1 1/2 years ago and it truly boils down to the motivation within the person with the willingness to expect failure/success in the new road to change.

I am not to far from my personal/doctor's goal and I am striving to continue my success on my lifestyle change.

Because everyone fails on a diet due to that it is not a true commitment to yourself to fully change your ways.

I stopped reading here...

J/k props and best of luck on your weight loss.

why are you so inherently bitter about nearly anything.

most of the posts in this thread have been legitimate.

That's bullshit ma. The elliptical is doing the work for you. On a treadmill, you use your whole body.

I better not be seeing you on the ellipitcals.

Mmmmhh, I would disagree. You are using more of your thigh muscles on the elliptical along with your upper body where as with the treadmill you are mostly working your lower body. Like I said, it really depends on whether you are sticking to the first level exercises because the higher the level the better workout you get.

And why would I be in the gym on an elliptical when I own one? What a waste that would be. I prefer the gym for anything but their treadmills, ellipticals etc.
I like their equipment to work the chest area. Those are fantastic!!

That and "I'm not trying to get brollic."

I'm used to lifting for maximum potential. I can't gauge how to lift for someone else, who doesn't know their max, who is lifting just to tone up.

who you telling B Sunday morning I was pushing my incline butterfly press with out help and shit almost fell on my face yo. LOL I was like oh shit did some one see that.

seriously working out with a S/O is WOAT.

Can be, but don't have to be.......

As far as weights, all my girl do is 3 things: Stiff Leg Deads, Squats, and Calve Raises...that's it, that's all she gotta know. I taught her these at home, so when she go to the gym she'll be confident about doing it, ain't looking stupid, and don't need me there. All she need to do is enough cardio to not get fat, and enough leg work to have nice legs and ass. She see me doing other stuff but it ain't like she trying to body"build", increase weights every week, with bench pressing and arm work.

Typically when we do go together, I'll hit the weights and she'll do cardio. If I'm taking a long time, she'll just sit on a bench, watch, or fuck with her ipod, i don't care. She'll do weights on a day that I'm not lifting and she'll be doing her thing while I'm bullshitting around with abs or something. It ain't like we working in sets together, that would suck (from reracking bars, etc).

If she receptive, it should work out. If not, then it's probably a personality conflict somewhere.......

The WOAT is taking a preworkout supplement before you go and she take too long to get ready. That shit kick in and you start feeling like a tweeker getting agitated, lol

most of these posts are not legitimate and I can say that as a bigger woman. so I kinda know what I am talking about on this subject. most of these posts are coming from people who have no idea and are just speculating and making assumptions.

so if that means bitter to you...so be it. but I call it as I see it and most of this thread is bullshit

Unless you're holding onto the handlebars, I disagree. You are using your FULL body without restrictions.

at the gym I dont use the machines at all. I use a great workout that my ex-bf (USA Track Runner) provided for me and a bit of the moves from P-90X.

I hate the gym I go to :(

Niggas dont put their weights back up at all; it's like, "Yo, nigga! Are you really going to leave those weights down there like that."

It's quite annoying.

Ah I see someone is actually real and truthful about their shit instead of lurking and ignoring the thread. Props.

But I can't believe, that you thought you could go your whole life, and eat the way you did when you were 15/16 on a consistent basis and NOT see any change. That's ludicrous. That wouldn't work in any other area of life, so why would it with nutrition?
